Free Crusader Kings 3 update brings delicious beer to your thirsty people

Beer is on everyone’s lips these days, especially in gaming. From hops-focused titles like Ale Abbey and Ale and Tale Tavern to less sudsy offerings like Manor Lords and Banished, beer is positively dripping over a vast swathe of the gaming landscape. Now it’s the turn of Crusader Kings 3, which is raising a toast thanks to a new free update.

The Traverse update adds a ton of stuff to Crusader Kings 3, some of which is related to a new piece of paid DLC, but there’s also a load you can experience for free too. The majority of the additions in the narrative 4X game relate to lovely, lovely beer thanks to a new building you can now get your hands on: the brewery.

Catholic temples, much like certain monasteries in the real world, will now be able to build breweries which will give various bonuses to the county they’re in. These range from increased popular opinion to better control over your people, which is all very understandable if your population is frequently sodden.

You can also unlock breweries via the new Brewing Culture cultural tradition, which will let you build them across cities you control. In addition, a new Court Brewmaster position has opened up, with three different tasks your Brewmaster can indulge in – emptying cellars, sharing with the court, and mixing up an experimental brew.

This all comes alongside the new Wandering Nobles pack which adds significantly to Crusader Kings 3’s Lifestyle selection. The Inspector, Wayfarer, and Voyager trees each come with new activities, which will all shape the way you play to make sure your leader spends less time stationary and more time on the road.

Both the Traverse update and the Wandering Nobles pack are out now for Crusader Kings 3. If you’d like to see exactly what’s new, including a big sack load of bug fixes, head over to Steam to get the full list.
