Destiny 2 Giving Away Multiple God Rolls
Key Takeaways
- Bungie acknowledges and addresses Destiny 2’s perk weighting issue through a hotfix.
- Players will receive free god roll weapons as compensation for the weapon perk problem.
- Double drops and opportunities to obtain rare curated weapons are also offered during the Vesper’s Host dungeon event.
Bungie confirms an upcoming fix for the recent weapon perk weighting issues that Destiny 2 has been experiencing and also announced it will be giving players free god roll weapons as compensation. Weapon hunting is a core aspect of loot-based games like Destiny 2, and for Episode Revenant, Bungie has attempted to make the hunt even more important by removing crafting from these seasonal weapons.
However, with the release of Vesper’s Host, players noticed that certain rolls of weapons dropped within the dungeon seemed exponentially rare. A few dedicated players took it upon themselves and discovered that Destiny 2 seems to have a perk weighting issue, where weapons would tend to drop with perks that were close by on the column table. Essentially, this meant that certain combinations would be near impossible to find.

After the diligent work by the community, Bungie confirmed the Destiny 2 weapon perk problem and indicated that a fix was coming. Thankfully, a new update on the Destiny 2 Team social account held more information for players, namely that the hotfix was ready and would be applied during the November 5 reset. Bungie again thanked the community for identifying the issue and, as such, Bungie is planning a special event for all players.
Destiny 2 Perk Weighing Issue Fix Date
- Hotfix 8.1.0.4. – November 5
From November 19-December 3, Destiny 2‘s Vesper’s Host dungeon will be offering double drops for both encounter and activity completions. Not only that, on November 19, players can stop by Banshee-44 at the Tower to find a small collection of curated weapons that have been largely impossible to obtain. It’s worth noting that for the dungeon weapons, players will not only need to own the Vesper’s Host dungeon, but have one completion on it as well. The weapons are as follows:
- Rose: Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot, Explosive Payload, Smooth Grip, Handling Masterwork
- Multimach: Polygonal Rifling, Tactical Mag, Attrition Orbs, Kinetic Tremors, Reload Masterwork
- Indebted Kindness: Smart Drift Control, Tactical Mag, Loose Change, Voltshot, Velocity Masterwork
- Compass Rose: Corkscrew Rifling, Light Mag, Snapshot Sights, Slideshot, Handling Masterwork
- Hothead (Adept): Hard Launch, Impact Casing, Tracking Module, Clown Cartridge, Reload Masterwork
- VS Chill Inhibitor: Countermass, Spike Grenades, Envious Arsenal, Bait and Switch, Reload Masterwork
In the meantime, Destiny 2‘s annual Festival of the Lost is in full swing for a limited time, bringing back classic weapons from past events with new rolls to discover. In addition, Destiny 2 has added a Heavy Burst arc shotgun named Arcane Embrace, as well as making exotic class items available to all players for the first time; no Dual Destiny needed.
