CS2 Tournaments 2024
We’re eight months into 2024, and so far, we’ve witnessed showstopping Counter-Strike action courtesy of Team Spirit and donk. The 17-year-old wreaked havoc on his S-tier event debut, dismantling every opponent on his way to the IEM Katowice 2024 trophy. Natus Vincere also won the inaugural CS2 Major of 2024 in a surprising return to form, which they followed up with a victory at the Esports World Cup 2024.
IEM Katowice also saw FaZe reach their sixth CS2 event Grand Final in a row, winning the first three. Their form has taken a nosedive since, leaving many to wonder what the future holds for FaZe Clan.

A look at the 2024 CS2 Tournaments so far
A couple of weeks after CS2’s full release, the world had the opportunity to witness the best Counter-Strike players take each other on at the first CS2 tournament – IEM Sydney 2023. Everyone was excited about the reunion down under even before the CS2 news, so it being the first CS2 tournament made it that much more special. Being the first tier-one event on the new game, some upsets were bound to happen, and they did. The number one ranked team at the time, Vitality, bombed out of the tournament in last place, losing two close series to BetBoom and FaZe, who then went on to win the event and claim the first CS2 trophy. The international powerhouse battled Complexity in what turned out to be a banger of a final, going to all three maps and overtime on the decider of Ancient.
We kicked off 2024 in Katowice, as Team Spirit and Donk aboslutely dominated the event and set themselves as the premier team to watch this season. Their ambitions were quickly shattered in Copenhagen as NAVI made a return to form even without S1mple the best CS player ever.
Of course, we had that legendary GStew run at IEM Dallas 2024, in one of the most miraculous moments in CS history. Even in 2024, there’s no denying that Stewie2k remains absolute box office. Vitality finally claimed the IEM Cologne 2024 trophy in CS2, giving apEX his win in the Cathedral of Counter-Strike on his third Grand Final attempt.
Towards the end of the season, it has largely been NAVI and G2 trading blows. ESL events have been dominated by NAVI (EPL S20, IEM Rio), while G2 have maintained a stranglehold on the BLAST circuit.
Three players are standing out on the individual front throughout the season thus far. ZywOo, m0NESY, and donk are dominating most lobbies. The trio has performed exceptionally well and carried their teams to results they wouldn’t have achieved otherwise throughout the entire year. When the time comes to crown the best CS2 player in 2024, it’s these three we’ll be talking about.
