Alidoro the Treasure Hunter is a very important NPC in the world of Lies of P. This is the character that all of you playing Lies of P will need to recruit in order to trade Rare Ergo in for special weapons and amulets. However, you’ll need to hold on to that Rare Ergo for just a bit, as Alidoro can’t be found in-game until Chapter 4.

13 Soulslikes That Are Easier Than Dark Souls
Dark Souls is a classic, but notoriously difficult game. For gamers who want something more forgiving, these similar titles are great choices.
Let’s go over exactly where you can find him, what he does as an NPC Merchant, and where his eventual questline ends.
Updated November 2nd, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: Lies of P has a lot of different NPCs to meet, NPC questlines to complete, and even NPCs to kill (or spare), but Alidoro is probably one of the most crucial NPCs in the game. After all, he’s a renowned Treasure Hunter and the merchant that’ll grant you all kinds of powerful weapons and amulets depending on the Rare Ergo you bring him. That said, it takes a bit before he actually becomes a hub NPC in the Krat Hotel, and his questline can be a bit confusing. So, with that in mind, let’s break down who this NPC is, where he’s found, what his purpose is, and where his quest line ends.
Alidoro The Treasure Hunter
Where To Find Alidoro
To reach Alidoro, you can just naturally progress through the game. Continue progressing, exploring new areas and fighting new bosses until the Saint Frangelico Cathedral has been reached. Once you get there:
- You’ll want to find the St. Frangelico Cathedral Library Stargazer and activate it.
- From here, progress through the room with the arrow trap switch on the floor and continue moving forward past all the enemies in each subsequent room.
- A short time after trudging through some Corrupted sludge and going up the stairs, you’ll enter another large library room with a singular elevator ‘entrance’ at the top of the stairs in the middle of the room.
- Get in the elevator and activate it.
This is the elevator leading to Alidoro. Take this elevator up and you’ll hear (or see the subtitles of) Alidoro talking to himself. After a brief conversation, Alidoro will ask Pinocchio if they know somewhere safe he can stay, and Pinocchio will have two options, either Venigni Works or Hotel Krat. Obviously, the best choice here is Hotel Krat, and it’s where Alidoro will end up regardless, but either choice works (eventually)
Sending Alidoro To Venigni Works
If You Just Wanna Lie a Bit More
If you’re feeling a bit devilish and want to lie you can do so with Alidoro by choosing to send him to Venigni Works in your first conversation with him. Of course, this place isn’t as safe as Hotel Krat but Pinocchio did just come to St. Frangelico’s Cathedral right after clearing all the puppets out of Venigni Works, so it is still ‘technically’ safe.
In either case, if you choose this option, you’ll need to make a bit of progress (we had to beat the Archbishop before Alidoro showed up at the Workshop) and then go to the Workshop Union Entrance Stargazer before you’ll see Alidoro again. Here, Alidoro will be waiting for Pinocchio in the room just up the stairs and to the left of the Stargazer.
You can then choose to deceive Alidoro again by telling him to go to Elysion Boulevard, but it seems like this old dog has wisened up to Pinocchio’s tricks at this point and will instead head for the Krat Hotel no matter what. So, choosing Venigni Works only leads to a bit of additional dialogue, one extra lie to add to the counter, and a bit more work actually getting Alidoro to be a permanently accessible NPC merchant.

Lies of P: Attack Type Guide
The Attack Type stat for weapons in Lies of P has been confusing a lot of players, as it’s a bit unclear. Let’s go over exactly what it means.
How To Trade Rare Ergo With Alidoro
Essentially Trading Boss Souls For Specific Gear & Weapons
Once you have Alidoro at the Hotel Krat, they’ve finally got their Boss Weapon shop. To use Rare Ergo in Lies of P, you simply need to take these Rare Ergo to Alidoro and trade them for one of two possible options.
Each Rare Ergo has a specific Amulet and a specific weapon that Alidoro will trade for the Rare Ergo. Generally, considering how heavy a lot of these boss Amulets tend to be, we recommend choosing the special weapons for the first playthrough and the Amulets for the second since you’ll have more Capacity to work with in a second run.
Alternatively, if you don’t care about either of Alidoro’s options for a Rare Ergo (or they already have both the weapon/Amulet and are on NG+2) they can simply sell/use the Rare Ergo to get a huge influx of Ergo all at once. This is obviously the worst option out of the three, but it’s the only real option left once you already have both the weapon and Amulet.

Where To Find Alidoro
After He Leaves the Krat Hotel, That Is
After a certain amount of progress has been made in the story, Alidoro will leave the Hotel Krat and his side quest will begin alongside Eugenie’s. To be more specific, after defeating Champion Victor, you can talk to Eugenie and have her hand over some special gloves she made for Alidoro.
At this point, Alidoro will no longer be found in the Hotel. Instead, he’s found at the entrance to the Barren Swamps, right next to the Barren Swamp Entrance Stargazer. Talk to him here, offer to give him the gloves, recoil at his awful response to this gift, and return to Eugenie. You can once again choose to lie or tell the truth to Eugenie about Alidoro’s response, but be careful this lie actually matters.
The next time you’ll see Alidoro is around Chapter 10 after they beat the Black Rabbit Brotherhood in its entirety (for the second time). Near the submarine that takes them to Alchemist Isle is Alidoro, who is making all sorts of excuses as to why he worked with the Alchemists. Here, you can choose to either Kill or Spare Alidoro (usually after hearing his backstory). Oddly enough, the ‘Spare’ option results in zero rewards and basically has no resolution, while the Kill option ends with getting Alidoro’s Cryptic Vessel and finishing up Eugenie’s side quest.
