Weird PlayStation Bug Gives Elden Ring Player Over 100 Years of Playtime

A strange bug on the PlayStation App has resulted in an Elden Ring player recording 107 years of playtime in the mystical world of The Lands Between. This incredibly erroneous stat has amused the Elden Ring community online and elicited a number of different takes from them.

Released in 2022, Elden Ring is an award-winning action RPG from renowned developer FromSoftware. It has steadily grown in popularity since its launch and continues to generate strong sales two years later, courtesy of the highly-rated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC which rolled out in June 2024. Notably, Elden Ring‘s appeal reaches far and wide, with top WWE star Randy Orton also acknowledging his fondness for the game. Although many players have spent a lot of time playing the Hidetaka Miyazaki-directed game, one Elden Ring player in particular recently found their in-game hours totaling a century’s worth of time.

On Reddit, user GrandTheftMeme shared that the PS App shows they have logged in 939,110 hours (approximately, 107 years) in Elden Ring. This stat is obviously down to an error, possibly a bug in the PS App, which the Elden Ring player stumbled upon. In one of the replies, they mentioned having three different saves with 566 hours, 40 hours, and 1 hour logged in, saying they were unsure if the error came from transferring PlayStation save data using their USB drive earlier. They revealed encountering a similar issue in July, which increased their playtime to 458,484 hours, before the latest run-in with the bug further boosted it.

The Elden Ring player’s incredibly inflated playtime attracted various amusing responses from others on Reddit. Referencing the part of the map where Elden Ring‘s protagonist starts their journey, a user said, “After so many years of preparation, you are ready to take on Limgrave, don’t you think?” Another reply jokingly called the hours logged in by the player as “Rookie numbers.” Giving a nod to one of the popular moments in the game, a user commented, “Did you find your maiden?”

After the immense success of Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, FromSoftware is now rumored to be working on bringing a “definitive edition” of Elden Ring to the next generation of Nintendo consoles. This rumor comes at a time when the anticipation for the Nintendo Switch successor’s announcement has been growing bigger by the day. As previously confirmed by the Japanese console giant, the next Nintendo console is set to be revealed this fiscal year, in other words, by March 2025.
