The Strongest Blessings In The DnD 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide.
The 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide for Dungeons & Dragons brings a new layer of power and customization with blessings, supernatural gifts granted to characters by deities or powerful entities. These blessings are rewards that enhance gameplay, giving characters unique abilities and benefits that, unlike magic items, have no attunement requirement.

Here are the best tips for running a Gelatinous Cube encounter in D&D!
Ideal for high-stakes campaigns or end-game rewards, each Blessing can dramatically impact a character’s journey, adding both flavor and powerful new options, although the entities that give these blessings can as easily take them away. Here, we rank the different blessings in D&D, exploring how they enhance characters’ skills and make for memorable moments at the table.
8
Blessing Of Weapon Enhancement
Give A Plus One To A Weapon
The blessing that will likely get the least use out of all of them is the one for weapon enchantments, since players are finding weapons with a plus one enchantment constantly. Even if they don’t, they will eventually find a replacement for the weapon in question, so this ‘permanent blessing’ pales when compared to the other ones.
Worst of all, the enchantment only works when you wield the weapon, meaning you can’t sell or share it, and you can’t receive the same blessing again to maybe upgrade it along the way. Fortunately, this is the only blessing that underperforms, all the other ones being far more useful.
7
Blessing Of Valhalla
Just Like Having A Silver Horn Of Valhalla
The blessing of Valhalla gives you the same benefits as if you used a silver Horn of Valhalla, namely the ability to summon two Berserkers for an hour, once every seven days. They might not seem like much, since their challenge rating is two, but gaining free bodies to tank damage or distract enemies is always useful.
The main factor preventing this blessing from being of more use is the seven-day cooldown. Now, if your group is also using bastions, then you’ll be used to waiting seven days to get something done, but for other groups, this might be a blessing they just forget they have.
6
Blessing Of Understanding
Your Wisdom Score Increases By Two
This is a very good blessing for all stages of play, since the plus two to Wisdom it gives is with a max of 22, not 20. So a druid that might have already ‘maxed out’ their wisdom will have a surprising and unexpected boost by this blessing, making them far more effective in everything they try to do.

Keep in mind that the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide clarifies that, when a blessing is given, it is always something that the character can use. So, if your DM gives your wizard a plus two to Wisdom, you can at least attempt to claim that it goes against the rules.
5
Blessing Of Wound Closure
Gain The Benefits Of A Periapt Of Wound Closure
The Periapt of Wound Closure is a popular item in D&D, letting you automatically succeed death saving throws and doubling how much you get healed for. Now, that Periapt is a magical item that requires attunement, but with this blessing, you can keep your attunement slots free for more useful things.
This is a mostly passive ability that may not help you kill the bad guy, but it can help you survive the fight. If your DM starts handing everyone this blessing, then you better be very worried about what they have prepared behind the final dungeon door.
4
Blessing Of Health
Your Constitution Score Increases By Two
Just like the blessing of understanding, the blessing of health increases an ability score, in this case Constitution, by two. Yet, unlike Wisdom, every single character can benefit from having a higher Constitution score, since the more health you have, the longer you can last on the battlefield.
This might seem like a dull option to hand out, but if players already have their builds perfectly fine-tuned, then giving them more toys can do more harm than good. Besides, giving them a bit more Constitution is something they can write down and always remember, as opposed to some magical trinket that might end up long forgotten in their bags of holding.
3
Blessing Of Magic Resistance
Advantage On Magical Saving Throws
The blessing of magic resistance can be a real boon when you are about to face a lich or any other dangerous spellcaster. This blessing gives you advantage on any saving throws that revolve around spells or magical effects, which obviously involves resisting charms but could also include dodging Fireballs, should your DM allow it.

If you are a Dungeon Master looking for blessings to reward your characters with, the blessing of magical resistance is one you give before a fight, not after. If your players just defeated a lich and then gained this blessing, they might end up being more sour than happy at the reward.
2
Blessing Of Protection
Gain A Plus One To Armor Class And Saving Throws
Many items and magical effects give a simple plus one to AC and saving throws, so this is certainly nothing new. However, the fact that this is a blessing means that your AC is permanently raised by one, no matter the armor you are wearing or lack thereof.
All monsters roll to hit, meaning that no one is guaranteed to land an attack on you, so every little point counts. As long as you don’t do something to anger your godly benefactor, gaining a permanent boost to your armor class is one of the best blessings you can get from the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide.
1
Making Your Own Blessing
You Can Copy Any Wondrous Item For It
This limited list of blessings is just scratching the surface of what you can use blessings for, since making new ones is so easy. For starters, you could just make blessings that raise any of the other stats, like a plus two to Strength or Charisma (and remember to max them at 22, not 20).
But you could go even beyond by copying the effect of any wondrous item, just like the blessings of Valhalla or wound closure do. Remember to copy every part of the item, including limitations and recharge rules, but if there are multiple versions, it is best to choose only one.
