The MongolZ crush Heroic to win Thunderpick WC 2024
With a qualification process that started back in April, a winner has finally been crowned in this year’s iteration of the Thunderpick WC 2024. It was The MongolZ who came out on top, crushing Heroic in a 3:1 series to take home a cool $500,000 cash prize.

This series started out with both teams trading blows. The MongolZ stole the opener, while Heroic punched back instantly. The third map of Anubis simply could have gone either way, but The MongolZ pipped Heroic 13:11. When the third map of a best-of-five Grand Final ends close, far too often you see the winning team closing out the series easily. That’s precisely what happened here; Heroic totally ran out of steam, allowing The MongolZ to take Mirage 13:2 and securing their victory in the Thunderpick WC 2024 CS2 tournament.
One of The MongolZ’s biggest strengths is the fragging output of their IGL, bLitz. This was on full display throughout this series – he finished the Grand Final with 68 kills, joint-top in the server alongside Senzu. Compare this to Heroic’s IGL, kyxsan, who managed just 40 across four maps.
Overall, it marks another successful year for the Thunderpick World Championship. We’ve seen some awesome CS on display from great teams, and The MongolZ are deserved winners as they continue to establish themselves among the best CS2 teams in the world.
