The Forest: Where to Find Turtles

The Forest: Where to Find Turtles

The Forest is a difficult game to master. Players will need to work fast to gather resources, craft weapons, and take down the island’s hostile inhabitants. This can be challenging early on, but after a while, the player will begin getting into a bit of a routine regarding gathering resources. One creature that has a multitude of uses is the turtle. These reptiles are slow-moving, and they don’t put up much of a fight, which makes them ripe for the picking.

From using their shells to get around faster to cooking them into a delicious meal, turtles are great for helping the player survive the dangers of the island. Here’s where to find them.

Newer players may struggle to find turtles early on. However, they are actually pretty easy to find. While these reptiles do spawn along the coast, they can frequently be found on the eastern side of the island. There are also a few decent locations throughout the map that are worth visiting when looking for turtles.

Places like the yacht, the large shipping containers, and the large anchor are all good places to find turtles. Keep in mind that it may take a few minutes for turtles to spawn. So, be sure to wait a minute or so to see if any spawn in. The downside of the turtle spawn locations mentioned is that cannibals frequently patrol those areas, so it’s best to avoid building a shelter here early on. Simply kill however many turtles you want and then leave the area before you get ambushed by a group of angry locals.

What To Do With Turtles

A Turtle In The Forest

Turtles are among the most useful creatures in the game. First, their meat can be harvested and cooked to make a nutritious meal. The second thing you can do with a turtle is use its head as a trophy. While this doesn’t do much, it’s a fun little feature that allows you to keep count of the animal types you have successfully hunted.

The last thing, but by far the most important thing that you can do with a turtle, is take its shell. The shell of a turtle can be used to collect fresh water, ensuring that you’ll never go thirsty. Turtle shells can also be used to slide down hills. This is a fun little feature that can help you to get from place to place a little faster. It’s also good for escaping dangerous situations with locals.

Turtle shells can also come in handy during combat. In a pinch, a turtle shell makes for a pretty useful shield. While they can also be used to strike enemies, they don’t do a lot of damage. But in terms of protection, a shell can be pretty handy.
