Key Takeaways
- Gunfighter allows three extra attachments on your primary weapon.
- Overkill enables equipping two non-melee primary weapons for diverse loadouts.
- It mostly depends on what kind of build you’re making, really.
Wildcards are the final aspect of your loadout you’re going to unlock in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but it can have a larger impact than any other single bit of your loadout. All of these change what you can bring with you into the battle, and that’s going to decide your options when it matters most.

There is not a bad Wildcard in Black Ops 6, but certain players are going to get more value out of some Wildcards than others. It largely comes down to playstyle, but there are some Wildcards that are going to have a larger impact on your overall loadout than others.
6
Gunfighter
For those who have a specific and impossible gunsmith build in mind for their primary weapon, the Gunfighter Wildcard swoops in and saves the day. The ability to attach three extra attachments to your primary weapon means that, in many cases, you can customize all of the slots on your weapon.
This affords you many more options for your weapon, deepening the pool of what you can do with it. Builds that were inconceivable suddenly aren’t, and you can make a weapon that has a slight advantage over the opposition simply because it is, statistically, balanced exactly how you want it.
5
Prepper
Equip Two Different Field Upgrades
Field Upgrades range from game-changing to minor benefits, with recharge rates to reflect their value. You’re typically locked into choosing one Field Upgrade at a time, forcing you to fully commit to that aspect of your loadout. The Prepper Wildcard changes that, allowing you to equip two different Field Upgrades and opening up a lot more options for you.
There is a huge variety of combinations you can bring with this Wildcard, considering there are 11 different Field Upgrades in Black Ops 6. These Field Upgrades are split between Support, Offensive, Defensive, and miscellaneous categories, and bringing multiple different Field Upgrades means you can fulfill multiple roles on your team.
4
Tactical Expert
An underrated Wildcard, Tactical Expert can make a tremendous difference over the course of a match, particularly in modes like Hardpoint with a central objective focus. The ability to bring three tacticals with you means you can, for example, stun or blind everybody on an objective multiple times in a row, ensuring your team can move in without much effort.

It also means you can bring multiple Stim Shots, Prox Alarms, and more. Smart tactical use is going to win you a lot of fights you would have lost otherwise, and players that make heavy use of tacticals are going to make heavy use of Tactical Expert.
3
Danger Close
The lethal variation of Tactical Expert, Danger Close gives you one extra charge of whatever lethal equipment you bring into the fight with you. An argument could be made to swap Tactical Expert and Danger Close’s positions on this list, and it’s largely going to depend on the player. Some people get more use out of one than the other and should choose their Wildcard accordingly.
But in general, Danger Close takes this spot simply because it can score an elimination on its own, while Tactical Expert requires you to put in further effort. The ability to toss two Semtex, for example, means you can effectively blanket a room in inescapable death. Two Blast Traps means you can cover an extra entrance, and so on. It’s a fantastic Wildcard if you’re using your lethals regularly.
2
Perk Greed
The perks in Black Ops 6 are, wisely, separated into three different perk slots, with different perks as options in all three. This means that you can only pick one perk from a certain pool, making certain combinations that would be extremely powerful impossible to achieve, because they would occupy the same slot.
Perk Greed shatters that fact and allows you to pick one extra perk from any of the pools. The value of this is going to depend entirely on the perk combination you choose and how effectively you use it. Combining things like Ghost and Ninja which both are perk 1’s, for example, allows you to both move much more quietly and largely stay off of the enemies’ radar. It’s a powerful way to give yourself more flanking opportunities, and it’s only one example of what you can do with Perk Greed.
1
Overkill
Equip Two Non-Melee Primary Weapons
The Wildcard that can change everything about your loadout the most is Overkill, which allows you to equip two primary weapons. This makes so many more things possible, allowing you to bring two extremely powerful weapons at the same time instead of one primary and either a launcher or a pistol.
This opens up a litany of doors that would otherwise remain closed and enables you to have a combination of playstyles that each watch the others’ back. Bring a Marksman Rifle and a Shotgun, a Sniper Rifle and an SMG; anything you can imagine, you can do. Further customize each weapon in the Gunsmith to get exactly what you want out of it, and you can have a loadout enemies simply do not expect to see and don’t quite know how to combat.
