At the end of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Safi is going Magneto mode. Now that she knows she’s not alone in possessing supernatural powers, she wants to travel the Earth, finding other people who have similar abilities. She plans to do it alone, leaving Max Caulfield behind to live her life at Caledon University.

But, she also needs to know, when she returns someday, will Max help her learn and exercise her powers? Or will she continue to ignore her time-traveling abilities and encourage Safi to do the same? In this guide, we’ll explore the consequences of each decision: joining Safi or refusing.

Should You Join Safi, Or Should You Refuse Her Offer?

If you accept and say you’ll be there to help when she returns, Safi hugs Max and the pair have a heartfelt goodbye. Max says she’ll wait for her to come back, and tells her to be safe. Safi leaves. Max smiles bittersweetly and turns back to help Yasmin.

So far, so good. But, later on, Moses chastises Max for not sticking up to her best friend. “She did some terrible things, Max,” he says, “and you basically gave her your seal of approval.” Can’t argue with that.

On the plus side, the results screen for this choice tells you that: “Safi still believes in you.”

If you decline her offer, Max backs away and says she knows what harm comes from constantly using these powers. Safi shapeshifts into Max and says, “Okay, Max Caulfield. Be seeing you?” Then walks away. Max turns to Yasmin and helps her.

Later, at the Snapping Turtle, Moses tells you he’s glad you stood up to Safi and thinks it could make a difference.

But, making the hard choice leaves Max’s best friend hurt. The end results screen will tell you that this choice makes Safi feel that “you have abandoned her like everyone else.”
