Loudest Anime Characters

Loudest Anime Characters

A commonly overlooked trope of shonen anime is how loud some of the characters can get. As shonen is a style of show with a younger demographic in mind, there is a tendency for the characters portrayed to be somewhat exaggerated.

This exaggeration can come in different forms, but one of them is how loud a the character is. This could be just the way they talk or when they really let out a huge shout. Some characters are positively iconic due to how much they shout, and even for those who it was initially annoying for, it usually grows on people and they get used to it.

Gurren Lagann

Gainax

Japanese Title
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Number of Episodes
27

For those who have never seen Gurren Lagan or even know any spoilers regarding the show, it is easy to assume that the charismatic Kamina is the main character of the series. The free-spirit can be considered more like a loud personality than simply a loud voice.

Kamina was instrumental in bringing protagonist Simon out of his shell and inspiring the people of the underground village to rise up and fight to reach the surface. He did get loud when he gave some of his speeches and the callouts for his moves.

8 Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)

The Typical Loudmouth Protagonist

Shonen protagonists come in various shapes and sizes, but they can tend to get loud especially when it comes to fights. This might be to display their emotion in the moment or pass across their message. Naruto is a typical shonen protagonist in this regard. Naruto’s dream is to become the Hokage, and he chases this ambition with single-minded determination.

In a lot of his battles, Naruto is loud, screaming out his convictions, and sometimes his screaming can be used for comedic purposes. This is something Sakura does too, as she can also be pretty loud.

Edward Elric is the main protagonist for the classic anime, Full Metal Alchemist. There are three things anyone who has watched the show will say about Edward: He’s pretty cool, he’s quite short, and he’s quite loud.

Fullmetal Alchemist has several characters who are experts at their craft, but who among them is the best of the bunch?

Edward’s height means he also has something of a short fuse and is always willing to chew people out when they either annoy him or comment on his height (or lack of it). He can really go at it with the best of them and no one wants to be on the receiving end of an Edward rant.

6 Taiga Aisaka (Toradora)

Short, Loud, And Violent

When talking about some of the classic romance anime of the 2000s, such a list would be incomplete without Toradora. For the uninitiated, it might sound like a wholesome romance (which it is to be fair) with two lovers getting to know each other.

But, in Taiga, viewers get an abrasive person with lungs for days and a violent streak that might not be as appreciated nowadays in current society. Taiga is a perfect tsundere who would prefer to hit the guy she loves than admit her feelings. When she does confess, she doesn’t disappoint and does it in a scream.

5 Squalo (Hitman Reborn)

The Voice Of Xanxus

Squalo is the second-in-command of the Vongola assassination squad and the right-hand man of the leader, Xanxus. He is one of the main antagonists of one of the more interesting arcs of Hitman Reborn.

Another thing he is known for is just how loud he gets. Squalo screams about everything. That said, he is a loyal character and is committed to Xanxus’ goals even when he isn’t treated with the fairness that his loyalty deserves.

4 Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail)

Almost Killed A Guy Just By Shouting

Natsu from Fairy Tail is one of the more rambunctious protagonists in the shonen landscape. Naturally boisterous, Natsu not only has the fighting ability, but also the lungs to make it on any loud character list.

Most memorably for Natsu, his shout is so powerful (and loud) that he defeats a villain with it. This occurred when he fought against another dragon slayer, Erik. Erik’s hearing is super sensitive, so much so, that he can even hear a person’s heartbeat. Against Natsu, he thought he had the upper hand until the fire dragon slayer shouted so loudly, it knocked Erik unconscious.

3 Inosuke Hashibara (Demon Slayer)

An Absolute Beauty With All The Wrong Mannerisms

Inosuke from Demon Slayer is a surprising character: incredibly feral, yet blessed with immense beauty, he is a character that can take some getting used to. On top of Inosuke’s short temper, pride, and confrontational character, he is also quite loud.

Regularly seen screaming his words, they belie his beauty and make him a really fascinating character. Inosuke is a fan favorite as even with all his flaws, he is a loyal ally to Tanjiro, and a hero on the side of justice.

2 Bakugo Katsuki (My Hero Academia)

A Spiky-Haired Loudmouth

Bakugo is one of the most well developed characters in shonen. Starting off as a bully who would pick on Midoriya mercilessly, Bakugo will continue to grow as a character eventually becoming one of the most reliable heroes.

However, while a lot changed about Bakugo, one thing that didn’t mellow out was his volume. Bakugo is one of those characters that shouts everything they say be it friendly or hostile. There is no indoor voice with Bakugo and people either had to accept him for who he is, or stay away.

1 Asta (Black Clover)

Had To Be Endured For A While

Black Clover was infamous for being an anime with ambitions to rival the likes of HxH, Naruto, Bleach and co with a weekly episodic format and long arcs that was more of an anomaly at a time when seasonal anime had become more and more of a thing.

Asta was a huge part of Black Clover’s initial popularity due to how loud he was. Asta was so loud that he completely turned some people off to the whole anime. But this lasted for one of the first several episodes as his character mellowed a bit and people also got used to him and grew to respect him for his other skills. He’s still pretty loud though.
