To differentiate between a normal and a Faction merchant, the former only offers players items to purchase, mostly valuable items. At the same time, the latter has the option to sell materials as well as a Faction strength menu. When you complete main quests in Dragon Age: The Veilguard or side ones similar to companion quests, you will earn Faction Strength that is used to level up the rank of the Faction merchant. Doing this increases Rook’s reputation among the desired Faction and unlocks some new items in the store.
