Increase Affinity In Ys X: Nordics

During your travels in Ys X: Nordics, you will come across several companions to aid in your journey. These companions have powerful abilities, unique backstories, and character interactions. As you continue to share experiences, you will increase your affinity with these characters, allowing you to learn more about them, which adds to the depth.

Ys X: Nordics – All Carnac Villager Locations

If you want to see the Sandras become lively in Ys X: Nordics, you’ll have to explore around and find various Carnac villagers.

There are a few different ways to increase affinity in Ys X: Nordics. These include but are not limited to giving gifts, companion-specific quests, and random events. This guide will walk you through all the things needed to raise your affinity with all the characters in the game.

Increase Affinity In Ys X: Nordics

Similar to earlier games, affinity essentially measures the strength of your bond with companions met on your adventure. It is first introduced toward the end of the second chapter, as the bond between Adol and Karja deepens. Following this, the ability to increase affinity with several other companions encountered throughout the story becomes available.

At any point in the game, you should easily be able to check your affinity with others by opening up the Journal, viewing Adventure Records, and selecting your desired companion from the People tab. You will see the affinity denoted by green stars in the top-right corner of the character page.

By increasing affinity with companions, you gain access to special stories known as Interludes. Other than that, you will also get additional Character Notes in the Journal, allowing you to know your companions a bit more.

You will also obtain the Sandra’s Socialite trophy if you successfully max out Adol’s affinity with all his companions.

There are multiple ways to raise affinity in Ys X: Nordics. These include:

Companion Quests: As you progress through the story, you will get companion–specific quests. You can complete these optional quests to increase your affinity with these companions.
Special Events: On your travels, you may notice Green Exclamation Markers on the map. These are Special Events, which you can do to boost your affinity. However, do note that these are usually available for a limited time, so be sure to check them out whenever possible!
Gifts: The simplest way to increase affinity with a companion is to give them gifts. These can be found inside chests, bought from shops, and even as quest rewards. Once you have found one, give it to the companion it is meant for.

How To Get Gifts

As mentioned earlier, multiple ways are using which you can get gifts in Ys X: Nordics. While you are introduced to the affinity mechanic toward the end of the second chapter, you will not be able to get your first gift until you reach the Baudin & Co. merchant ship sometime in the third chapter. Below, we have shared a complete list of all the gifts, their locations, and who they are meant for:

Dvergt’s Hammer	Cruz	It is found inside a Treasure Chest on Breezy Isle.
Foreign Gauntlet	Dogi	You will first need to buy the Hidden Treasure Chart B from Gregorio’s Curios merchant ship in Sonnelia Basin. Once done, head over to the Ozmid Expanse to acquire the Foreign Gauntlet — you will find it towards the northwestern edge of the map. Simply interact with the treasure to acquire it.
Green Turban Ear Clips	Rosalind	It is found inside a Treasure Chest on Falun Island.
Oku-Thor Amulet	Rafe	You will need to recapture the Flumen Strait — Abandoned Mine. Remember that you will need to score at least an ‘A’ rank or higher to be eligible for the reward.
Peculiar Harr Woodcarving	Karja	It is found inside a Treasure Chest on Raufos Island. It is located on the southwest side of the map.
Pink Pearl Ring	Mirabel	It is found inside a Treasure Chest on the Ruined Capital of Ribe. Continue to head south on the map to find it.
Rune Sword	Grenn	You can buy it from the Baudin & Co. merchant ship. You will find it near the northwest of Balta Island in the Carnac Waters. This should be the first gift you will find in the game.
White Lion Crest	Ezer	You can buy it from Anika’s Goods. There are a couple of locations where you can find this merchant ship. The first one is near the south of Specular Bay and the second one is toward the southeast edge of the Rogue Sea.
