How To Get Outfits In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Players in Metaphor: ReFantazio will spend a lot of time looking at the protagonist along with the party while they explore the many dungeons throughout Euchronia. While there is a lot of armor to find and equip, none offer any cosmetic changes to the party when equipped, outside of weapons which do appear differently while in a dungeon.

While the appearance of the party seems set in stone, there are outfits that can be equipped to change only how the outfit of the character, leaving any other equipment’s stats unchanged. Outfits only change the appearance of the party while they are in a dungeon and while in combat. Here’s how to get and equip outfits to change up the appearance of your party.

Each character can equip their own costume by going to that character in the equipment menu. The very bottom option is, “Clothes”, and selecting it will open up a menu of all available outfits for that character. Each character can equip a different outfit or stay on the basic outfit if you wish as simply as equipping the desired outfit in the Clothes menu. While other outfits appear as gold icons indicating they are rare items, there is no gameplay benefit to changing your outfit.

The only effect of outfits is that the battle music will change to the main battle music of the game of the outfit that the protagonist has equipped.

At the time of writing this article, there are no outfits that can be obtained in-game, and if you just purchased the base version of the game there will be no additional outfits available. The only way to get outfits is by purchasing them through DLC. Some editions of the game come with all outfits included, you’ll just need to claim those DLC bonuses in-game to be able to equip them. No matter how you purchase them, outfits can be claimed in game by heading to Akademia and interacting with the notification on More’s couch.

If you only purchased the base version of the game, you can purchase an upgrade bundle that includes all outfits or buy them individually from each game, though for a higher overall price if you get them all. After you claim the rewards from any DLC and claim the outfits, those same outfits will become available later in the game for party members as they get unlocked. Once a party member officially joins and can be used in combat, their corresponding outfits will already be in your inventory ready to be equipped. The available outfits come from the following Atlus games:

  • Persona 1,2,3,4 & 5
  • Shin Megami Tensei 4 & 5
  • Etrian Odyssey
