Every Main Hunter X Hunter Character's Age, Height, And Birthday

Key Takeaways

  • Learn about Hunter x Hunter characters’ birthdays, ages, and heights to get a deeper understanding of their backgrounds.
  • Hunter x Hunter characters like Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and more have hidden depths that make them compelling and relatable.
  • Characters like Gon, Killua, and More have unique abilities, complex personalities, and intriguing backstories that make for an engaging show.

Considering its stop-and-start production schedule, the fact Hunter x Hunter‘s popularity has not waned much over the last decade is a testament to Yoshihiro Togashi’s impeccable writing. After completing the all-time classic YuYu Hakusho and the short-lived but still good Level E, the mangaka started on (arguably) his masterwork, a story that is still producing Weekly Shonen Jump chapters more than 25 years following its debut. Throughout its run, Hunter x Hunter has gone through multiple delays due to Togashi’s health issues, only for the manga to return years later without missing a beat. The announcement of a new HxH volume is always a cause for celebration.

The narrative of these shows emphasizes the importance of words in shaping the journey of both the characters and the viewers.

While initially receiving an adaptation in 1999, Hunter x Hunter‘s definitive anime debuted in 2011 and was handled by Madhouse. Producing 148 episodes, the series covered roughly 339 chapters of the manga, culminating in the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc. The manga has continued since the anime’s conclusion, but it remains to be seen whether the latter is brought back.

There are plenty of reasons behind this series’ enduring success, but there is no denying that (most) of Hunter x Hunter‘s characters are phenomenal. Even the “traditional” shonen protagonist, Gon, goes on an incredibly unusual arc for the demographic. As the anime has dozens of great personalities, this article will cover general information like their ages and birthdays.

Updated on November 3, 2024, by Mark Sammut: Two more Phantom Troupe members have been added to this article.

This article is based on the anime, not the manga. So spoilers for the latter are kept to a minimum.

Hunter x Hunter Characters Statistics Chart

Hunter x Hunter Gon, Killua, and other main characters

Hunter x Hunter‘s characters tend to walk the line between familiarity and originality. The story has quite a straightforward premise for battle shonen: Wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, Gon leaves his island home to take part in the hunter’s exam. Once there, he quickly makes friends with Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika, while attracting the attention of Hisoka.

This fairly ordinary introduction spirals into an epic that challenges storytelling conventions, all the while still being a rewarding battle shonen experience.

Let’s go through the basic information for HxH‘s main characters.

The characters’ ages are listed at the time of their debut in the anime. Some characters never have their age, birthday, or height officially established or mentioned in any canon material, which is indicated in the columns stating “Unknown.” Other characters have only their true age stated, but not an official birthdate.

Gon Freecss

Hunter

  • Nen Type: Enhancement
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Megumi Han
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Erica Mendez

Gon is the happy-go-lucky, enthusiastic, and passionate protagonist in Hunter x Hunter. He sets off on his journey to become a Hunter to find his long-lost father. He meets many new people, makes close friends, and strengthens his mighty skills over his journey.

Hunter x Hunter: Gon’s 8 Greatest Feats, Ranked

Gon has a lot of impressive achievements under his belt. These examples are his most impressive in Hunter x Hunter.

He has tall, spiky black hair and wears a quirky, little, green outfit. He has superhuman abilities, including incredible sight, smell, and taste. Gon begins the series as a ripe, young 12-year-old and ages a couple of years throughout his adventure, becoming a fully-fleshed Hunter in the process. While starting as a fairly standard shonen protagonist, Gon experiences quite a bit of hardship that challenges his optimism and naivety.

Killua Zoldyck

Hunter

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 3 “Rivals X In X Survival”
  • Nen Type: Transmutation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Mariya Ise
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Cristina Vee

Killua is the best friend and closest companion to Gon. He has spiky, pure white hair, blue eyes, and wears baggy clothes. Killua is highly skilled and comes from a very powerful family, yet his friendship with Gon humbles him and makes him a fun person to be around. He is very cheeky, positive, and intelligent, and is great at analyzing any kind of situation.

He has a major sweet tooth and is obsessed with eating sugary snacks, specifically chocolate. Killua has a very complicated and traumatizing past that he has to overcome on his journey alongside his dear friend, Gon. Out of all the Hunter x Hunter characters, Killua is probably the most beloved and popular (except for maybe Hisoka).

Kurapika Kurta

Hunter & Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 1 “Departure X And X Friends”
  • Nen Type: Conjuration, Specialization
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Miyuki Sawashiro
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Erika Harlacher

Kurapika is the last surviving member of his clan, a factor that makes it hard for him to open up to others. He is highly skilled and is worthy of his title as a Blacklist Hunter.

He has feathery blonde hair and wears a decorated tabard over his white training suit. Kurapika struggles with loneliness and guilt, resulting from the deaths of his clan, but he learns to let new, cherished people into his life as his story progresses. Although still young, he has a lot of great experience under his belt, and he is far more manipulative and cutthroat than might initially appear to be the case. Kurapika disappears from the anime for entire arcs; however, when featured, he tends to not only leave an impression but also take center stage.

Leorio Paradinight

Hunter

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 1 “Departure X And X Friends”
  • Nen Type: Emission
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Keiji Fujiwara
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Matt Mercer

Leorio is a Rookie Hunter who starts the series as a tall, boastful man with big monetary goals. He has the appearance of a masculine guy much older than he actually is. Some characters mistake him for an “old man” before he can clarify that he is still in his teenage years, being only 19.

Leorio says he wants to become a Hunter for money and shamelessly values wealth and material success; however, that is mostly just a smokescreen, and he primarily wants to use the resources offered by the Hunter Association to achieve his goal of becoming a doctor. He has a good heart underneath his narcissistic outer layer, and truly just wants to make friends and save lives as a doctor who helps the poor.

While technically a main character due to being part of Gon’s inner circle of friends, Leorio is mostly relegated to a supporting figure who only has a hand to play in a few arcs. That said, he returns in a big way during the election for the next Hunter Chairman, a saga that sets up big things for Leorio’s future.

Hisoka Morow

Hunter & Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 3 “Rivals X In X Survival”
  • Nen Type: Transmutation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Daisuke Namikawa
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Keith Silverstein

This recurring antagonist is an incredibly skilled Hunter and former member of the Phantom Troupe. Hisoka is pretty arrogant and wacky, with very sadistic and bloodthirsty pleasures. His ultimate satisfaction comes from fighting strong Hunters and killing people on his power level.

Hisoka is always looking to fight the strongest opponent out there, but does he have the ability to back up his ambitions?

Hisoka dresses like a crazy, ugly clown because he acts like one. He plays a huge role in most of the arcs in the anime, playing as both a major antagonist and a supporting character depending on the situation in the story. Hisoka’s obsession with Gon produces some of Hunter x Hunter‘s most memorable and disturbing moments, and their rivalry serves as a constant throughline across the series.

Although tied to Gon, Hisoka has an identity beyond the main character, and he is allowed to flourish as a member of the Phantom Troupe. Hunter x Hunter emphasizes that characters are always evolving even when their lives are not chronicled directly.

Ging Freecss

Hunter

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 37 “Ging X And X Gon”
  • Nen Type: N/A
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Rikiya Koyama
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Marc Diraison

Ging is the long-lost father of Gon. He is a Double Star Ruins Hunter with insane physical abilities. He’s not much taller than Gon even though he is much older. He has a childlike personality, with very carefree and wild tendencies.

Ging is clearly not a very good parent to Gon, having left him alone and not openly caring for his wellbeing at all. He cannot handle being a father and doesn’t do a good job teaching Gon lessons as a father should. For the most part, Ging exists to drive his son forward, serving as a goal to chase. That said, he starts to morph into a proper character during the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc.

Isaac Netero

Hunter Association Chairman

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 6 “A X Surprising X Challenge!”
  • Nen Type: Enhancement
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Ichiro Nagai, Banjo Ginga
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Ian Alden

Isaac Netero is the 12th chairman of the Hunter Association and leader of the Exam Commission. He is very old, over 120 years to be exact! He was renowned for being one of the strongest Nen users in his youth and continued to be just as massively powerful in his old age.

Netero is very extravagant and exuberant, with a very loud and quirky personality. He seems like a crazy old man, but he is very wise, selfless, and respected. After the Hunter Exam arc, Netero reemerges as a key figure during the Chimera Ant saga, resulting in arguably the best fight in Madhouse’s anime adaptation.

Kite

Hunter

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 75 “Ging’s Friends X And True Friends”
  • Nen Type: Conjuration
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Shuichi Ikeda, Uki Satake
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Christopher Corey Smith, Laura Stahl

Kite is a character with two very different forms over their appearance in the series. They first lived their life as a skilled male Hunter who trained under Ging. They then died and were reincarnated as a female Chimera Ant. Their heights and ages aren’t explicitly detailed in the series, but it is assumed they were in their mid-20s when they died. Kite is very talented with weapons and has enhanced endurance, speed, and intellect.

Although somewhat poorly handled by the 2011 anime adaptation, Kite was unquestionably the most important figure in Gon’s childhood, not only saving his life but also setting him on the path to becoming a hunter. The manga establishes Kite’s role in shaping Gon early on, but the 2011 anime showed this part far later in the story.

Biscuit Krueger

Hunter

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 60 “End X And X Beginning”
  • Nen Type: Specialization
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Chisa Yokoyama
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Tara Sands

Don’t let her appearance fool you, this wacky character is a Double Star Stone Hunter with immense skill and strength. Biscuit Krueger, referred to as “Bisky”, is a very beautiful and youthful woman on the outside, but she is actually 57 years old and super buff and burly in her true form.

She wants to be seen as a small and fragile-looking porcelain doll but can fight like the muscular, mighty woman that she truly is. Biscuit serves as Gon and Killua’s mentor, and she puts them through the wringer after they become proper hunters. While not appearing extremely frequently, Biscuit is one of Hunter x Hunter‘s most important characters.

Morel Mackernasey

Hunter

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 85 “Light X And X Dark”
  • Nen Type: Manipulation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Taiten Kusunoki
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Kyle Hebert

Introduced in the lead-up to the battle against the Chimera Ants, Morel is a fairly constant presence throughout this arc, getting a couple of showcase fights against the likes of Cheetu, Leol, and Shaiapouf. He even wins a couple of battles and holds his own against formidable opponents, proving why he was picked by Netero to spearhead the attack on the Chimera Ants. Although relatively confident, Morel is quite approachable and driven by a desire to protect those around him, even if he tends to take on most encounters alone.

Knov

Hunter

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 85 “Light X And X Dark”
  • Nen Type: Emission
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Shin-ichiro Miki
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Grant George

A fairly late addition to the anime, Knov comes to prominence during the Chimera Ant arc, serving as one of Netero’s most trusted soldiers. While not typically known for rushing into battle, Knov’s value rests on his ability to infiltrate, analyze, and remain calm. Admittedly, the latter is not a guarantee and falls apart during the Hunters’ battle against the Chimera Ant, leaving Knov temporarily unable to do much besides panic.

Hunter x Hunter: 7 Reasons You Should Watch The 1999 Anime

The 2011 Hunter x Hunter remake improved upon a lot of things but there are still plenty of reasons to give the 1999 version a chance.

Although not the most powerful character, Knov repeatedly proves he has earned the respect of other hunters, and he contributes to the Chimera Ant battle in subtle but important ways. His dynamic with Palm, his student, is also pretty interesting. That said, the pupil outshines her master in terms of personality.

Palm Siberia

Hunter (And Chimera Ant)

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 86 “Promise X And X Reunion”
  • Nen Type: Enhancement
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Kikuko Inoue
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Karen Strassman

Palm might not be a major Hunter x Hunter character in the grand scheme of things, but she certainly makes the most of her limited screen time. Seemingly inspired by Japanese horror icons like The Ring‘s Sadako Yamamura, Palm’s haunting aesthetic tends to catch the eye of everyone around her, and she immediately left an impression on Killua and Gon. Infatuated with her sensei, Knov, the woman can get distracted fairly quickly, and she does not react particularly well to an aggressive tone.

Despite being the exact opposite of discreet as her usual self, Palm is surprisingly great as an undercover agent, which she uses to somewhat decent effect during the Chimera Ant operation. Unfortunately, she is eventually caught and turned into an ant, a situation that strips back her big personality.

Chrollo Lucilfer

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Specialization
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Mamoru Miyano
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Robbie Daymond

Chrollo is the founder and leader of the Phantom Troupe. He has short black hair and a thick cross on his forehead. He is confident due to his impeccable skills and is very serious and collected.

He has no fear of death and does everything to keep the Troupe functioning and together. He is cold-blooded and contributes to heartless murders alongside his Troupe. Chrollo is a very complicated and crucial character in the story.

Machi Komacine

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 32 “A X Surprising X Win”
  • Nen Type: Transmutation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Rena Maeda
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Abby Trott

This pink-haired lady is the #3 member of the Phantom Troupe. She never shows much emotion and always keeps her cool. She wears her hair pulled up most of the time and wears traditional Japanese clothing.

She is very loyal to the people most important to her and will use her strength to protect them. Machi is a great thief and works alongside Hisoka in multiple arcs in the series.

Nobunaga Hazama

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Enhancement
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Naoya Uchida
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Joe J. Thomas

Nobunaga is the #1 member of the Phantom Troupe. Though his strength is ranked ninth in the group, his abilities and strategies make him a powerful antagonist.

Hunter x Hunter: 18 Best Villains, Ranked

Hunter x Hunter’s villains all have unique stories and character designs. These are the best villains in the series.

He typically wears a Japanese-style robe and has his black hair tied up into a top knot. Though a villain, he is typically rather kind and friendly with Gon and Killua, smiling at them and inviting them to be a part of their Troupe. He is very loyal to his group and his cause.

Feitan Portor

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Transmutation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Kappei Yamaguchi
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Tom Bauer

Like the last two characters, Feitan is in the Phantom Troupe. He is the #2 Troupe member and an experienced thief. He reigned as the group’s de facto leader until Chrollo’s return. He is pretty short, standing only just above 5 feet, but his strength and speed don’t suffer from that.

Lean and muscular, Feitan is a physical specimen with barely anything resembling a moral compass, which makes him the perfect member to carry out the Phantom Troupe’s torture sessions when they are required. He does whatever he can to help protect and strengthen his group, and gets along well with the other members.

Phinks Magcub

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Enhancement
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Kenichiro Ohashi
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): David Vincent

Most Phantom Troupe members only get a few moments to shine in the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime, but they make every second content. Phinks is one such character. He does not do that much during the show, and he can come across as the typical hothead who is constantly looking to exert his dominance. However, he is also just kind of cool, and his dynamic with the other Troupe members is oddly endearing in a murder family type of way.

Hunter x Hunter is fantastic at making even minor characters feel like they have incredible stories that are just waiting to be uncovered. There is no such thing as fodder henchmen who are just there to be bodies for the heroes to overcome. Phinks is not necessarily a great character, but he has the opportunity to become one.

Franklin Bordeau

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Emission
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Hidenobu Kiuchi
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Edward Bosco

Very clearly inspired by one of literature’s greatest monsters, Franklin gives off the appearance of a hulking behemoth, naturally suggesting that he has more brawn than brain. While not necessarily the thinker of the group, this Phantom Troupe member is pretty smart overall, and he is pretty darn good at managing other people.

Like all of his companions, Franklin would die to ensure the Phantom Troupe’s survival, and he is willing to do anything to ensure its future. Except for Chrollo, he is specifically committed to the group rather than the individual members. That’s not to say Franklin hates everyone else, but they are expendable if they become a problem.

Shizuku Murasaki

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Conjuration
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Miho Arakawa
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Janice Roman Roku

Compared to other Phantom Troupe members, Shizuku can be a bit inconspicuous. For the most part, she looks and dresses like an ordinary person, which funnily enough causes her to stand out among her more eye-catching teammates. She is also relatively soft-spoken, in the sense that she mostly maintains a steady tone and is more than willing to fade into the background if her input is not required.

Do not be fooled by her college student fashion sense, Shizuku is an unflinching killer with a (mostly) ice-cold heart. Except for her partners, she does not care a single bit about anyone else, and she is more than happy to eliminate somebody if they are being a nuisance. While a capable fighter who can hold her own against most mid-tier opponents, her contributions primarily lie in her ability to keep hidden the Phantom Troupe’s presence.

Pakunoda

Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 41 “Gathering X Of X Heroes”
  • Nen Type: Specialization
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Romi Park
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Erica Lindbeck

Initially, Pakunoda can come across as one of the least important Phantom Troupe members, largely thanks to her role being more about reconnaissance and support than direct action. However, her relevance gradually grows throughout the Yorknew City arc, eventually becoming a key player in Kurapika’s journey to take out the Phantom Troupe. She also plays a central role in (somewhat) humanizing the other Troupe members, bringing them together in a way that shows they properly care about each other.

In terms of personality, she is not particularly loud, but she radiates maturity and confidence. In a fun little subplot, Pakunoda strikes up a slightly weird friendship with Gon and Killua, or at least she grows a bit fond of the two children.

Chimera Ant Queen

Chimera Ant

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 76 “Reunion X And X Understanding”
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Masako Ikeda
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Cindy Robinson

Due to being overshadowed by the King and many of her soldiers, the character responsible for starting the entire Chimera Ant arc is forgettable, mostly serving as a plot device to introduce way more interesting villains. Nevertheless, the Chimera Ant Queen is an important figure in Hunter x Hunter, one that acts as almost a bridge between traditional “monster” shonen antagonists and Meruem’s more nuanced characterization.

Single-minded about ensuring the success of her children (mainly Meruem), the Chimera Ant Queen is an oddly tragic figure, despite not being particularly fascinating or likable.

Meruem

Chimera Ant

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 91 “The Strong X And X The Weak”
  • Nen Type: Emission
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Koki Uchiyama
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Max Mittelman

Meruem is the king of the Chimera Ants and arguably the strongest character in Hunter x Hunter. Despite being born after the Royal Guards, Meruem was stronger and more intelligent than any other Chimera Ant. He was an arrogant individual who did not care about his allies or enemies.

He was able to take on the strongest Hunter quite easily, showing off his superiority.

Neferpitou

Chimera Ant

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 84 “A X Fated X Awakening”
  • Nen Type: Specialization
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Ayumi Fujimura
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Sarah Williams

Neferpitou is one of the strongest Chimera Ants and the first of the Ant King’s three Royal Guards. They look like a humanoid cat, with big furry ears and demarcated joints at the knees like ants.

Like a kitten, Neferpitou is very playful, wild, cheerful, and wacky. They are very loyal and fierce, as well as ready to protect their king with their life. They are tall and slim with long limbs like a nimble cat, with fluffy white hair and huge round eyes. Despite their appearance, Neferpitou is among Hunter x Hunter‘s most detested characters, a villain who reveled and excelled in torture and suffering. They also inadvertently sparked Gon’s rapid growth in strength.

Illumi Zoldyck

Zoldyck Family

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 15 “Explosion X Of X Deception”
  • Nen Type: Manipulation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Masaya Matsukaze
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Chris Hackney

Illumi Zoldyck is the eldest child of the Zoldyck family. He made his debut in the Hunter Examination arc, although he was wearing a disguise for the most part. Like all the other members of the Zoldyck family, Illumi is a talented assassin who has very impressive reactions. He has been trained to assassinate from a young age, which enabled him to gain superhuman strength and resilience.

Alluka Zoldyck

Zoldyck Family

  • Proper Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 138 “Request X And X Wish”
  • Nen Type: Specialization
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Maaya Uchida
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Xanthe Huynh

Alluka is the younger sibling to Killua and the second-youngest child in the Zoldyck family. She has beautiful, long black hair and wears a traditional Japanese shrine maiden outfit.

The circumstances of her birth were very unique and resulted in her supposedly not having human emotions. However, she is very happy-go-lucky and caring toward her brother when she travels with him. She is noticeably shorter than the two main characters but is only one year younger than them.

Kalluto Zoldyck

Zoldyck Family & Phantom Troupe

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 23 “The X Guard’s X Duty”
  • Nen Type: Manipulation
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Mamiko Noto
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Lauren Landa

Kalluto Zoldyck is the youngest member of his family, but he is still way more talented than most characters in the series. Despite his age, Kalluto managed to join the Phantom Troupe, a nefarious organization that is filled with incredibly powerful individuals.

Kalluto is trained in the ways of the assassins, and he has participated in many high-level missions with the rest of his family. His weapon of choice is his paper fan, which he uses to launch scathing attacks at his opponents. He has great control over his Nen, and he often uses it to conceal his presence from others and increase the power of his weapons. Kalluto’s skills have impressed the members of the Phantom Troupe, and it is obvious that with time he is only going to improve.

Mito Freecss

Gon’s Foster Mother

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 1 “Departure X And X Friends”
  • Nen Type: Can’t Use Nen
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Keiko Han
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Rachael Lillis

Mito Freecss is one of the most important characters in Gon’s life. When Ging left Gon at Mito’s place, she was more than happy to take care of him. She raised Gon in the best way possible, always trying to make sure that he didn’t go near danger. In many ways, she is Gon’s best parent.

Mito is a caring and loving person. It was because of his upbringing that Gon also inherited these qualities. Even after he grew up, Mito still cared about Gon just like a mother would. The latter has also said that Mito is the first person that comes to mind when he thinks of his mother.

Pariston Hill

13th Chairperson Of The Hunter Association

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 137 “Debate X Among X Zodiacs”
  • Nen Type: N/A
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Hiroki Takahashi
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Kyle McCarley

An entertaining enigma who is properly introduced in the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc and also features prominently in the subsequent Dark Continent Expedition storyline, Pariston is hard to pin down. Awful to nearly everyone but rarely treating them with malice, the Hunter Association’s Vice Chairman loved to get under Netero’s skin, a habit that helped earn him the role since he would never just blindly go along with the Chairman’s decisions.

Pariston won the opportunity to succeed Netero, despite being wildly disliked by the Hunter community. However, like with nearly everything, he did not take the election and his subsequent victory seriously; in fact, he resigned immediately.

Cheadle Yorkshire

14th Chairperson Of The Hunter Association

  • Debut Episode (2011 Anime): Episode 136 “Homecoming X And X True Name”
  • Nen Type: N/A
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (Japanese): Ikue Ōtani
  • 2011 Anime Voice Actor (English): Cherami Leigh

Cheadle Yorkshire is a somewhat underappreciated character, and she mainly appears in the final arc of the 2011 anime. As a member of the Zodiacs, she has played an important supporting role in shaping the Hunter Association; however, she tends to be overshadowed by her peers. During the 13th Hunter Chairman Election, Cheadle was a prime contender to succeed Netero, despite always falling short of being the main pick. Throughout most of this run, she seemed more preoccupied with ensuring Pariston did not get the position rather than furthering her position of power, a mentality that arguably backfired.

Despite losing the election, Cheadle is picked by Pariston as his Vice Chairperson and then promoted to the top spot when the 13th head promptly retires following the election. Cheadle’s strength is largely undefined, but her adherence to logic and intelligence lend themselves to her new role. She does play a fairly significant role in the manga’s Dark Continent Expedition arc, so anime-only fans can look forward to more Cheadle if a continuation is ever announced.
