Webfishing: Complete Guide To Lures
Your lure choice can make all the difference for your fishing success in Webfishing.
It’s important to purchase upgrades to catch better fish. However, another crucial factor is the bait you use. Each bait has different effects, and at the beginning of the game, you only have one bait: the worm. If you want to know more, we’ve compiled all the information you need about bait in this guide.
Complete Guide To Baits
Where To Unlock Bait Licenses
You can’t fish without bait, and each bait type has its own unique properties. However, the more expensive the bait, the more effective it will be. To unlock a new type of bait, you’ll need to purchase its license. To buy the license, head to the hut to the right of the Pawprint Point sign in the hub. Inside, speak to the frog NPC, who will allow you to buy bait licenses.
As your camp tier increases, more bait licenses will become available. So, if you don’t see all the licenses yet, just focus on upgrading your camp tier.
Every Bait Type And Their Effects
Once you’ve purchased the license, you’ll be able to buy the corresponding bait. Here are all the types of bait available in the game:
Bait Name |
Effects |
License Cost |
---|---|---|
Worms |
This bait is given to you at the start of the game and is low quality. It’s also the cheapest bait. It can only catch Low Tier fish. |
– |
Crickets |
This bait is of standard quality. While not as cheap as worms, it’s still affordable. It can catch fish from all tiers and has a low chance of catching Shining fish. |
100 dollars |
Leeches |
This bait is above standard quality. It can catch fish from all tiers and has a low chance of catching Glistening fish. |
400 dollars |
Minnows |
This bait is high quality. It can catch fish from all tiers and has a low chance of catching Opulent fish. |
1,250 dollars |
Squid |
This bait is very high quality. It can catch fish from all tiers and has a low chance of catching Radiant fish. |
8,500 dollars |
Nautiluses |
This bait is pristine quality. It can catch fish from all tiers and has a low chance of catching Alpha fish. |
15,000 dollars |
Remember that tier and rarity are not the same. All baits, except for worms, can catch fish from all three tiers. Worms can only catch fish up to the second tier. If you want to catch rarer fish in terms of rarity, you should use higher quality, more expensive baits.
How To Restock & Change Baits
There are plenty of places where you can purchase the bait you have licenses for. Look for a mound with a red sign that says ‘Sell & Bait.’ Interacting with these signs will allow you to restock your bait.
Keep in mind that as the quality of the bait you use increases, the cost to restock them will also increase.
To change the bait you own, press the B key to open your Tacklebox. You can also open the Tacklebox from the top-right corner. After opening it, you can change your bait from the left section of the menu.
Which Bait Should You Use?
Not all baits are equal. Therefore, you should use the baits that will catch you the most valuable fish. This means that using the highest quality, i.e., most expensive bait you have will yield you more profit. Since the quality of the bait is high, the restock cost will be expensive, but you will offset this with the valuable fish you catch.
Keep in mind that the Efficient Lure has a chance of not consuming your baits, and it is a good combination with your expensive baits.
If your goal is no longer to earn money but to complete tasks or the journal, your bait selection should reflect that. Instead of using the highest quality baits, you should use baits suitable for your objectives.
For example, if you aim to catch Alpha quality fish, other baits besides Nautilus will not help you in this regard. On the other hand, if your goal is to catch only normal types of fish and complete related tasks, you should definitely choose the lowest quality bait, which is worms.
