An Upcoming Marvel Series Gets Its Release Date & Official Logo

Key Takeaways

  • Eyes of Wakanda premieres on Disney+ August 6, 2025, exploring Wakandan lore and ancestral stories.
  • The miniseries will add worldbuilding to the MCU, offering a different narrative beyond the usual formula.
  • Despite fan anticipation and appreciation for more Wakanda stories, the show won’t reveal the MCU’s long-term future.

The Eyes of Wakanda miniseries is inching ever closer to hitting Disney+, and fans now know exactly when they can expect to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe series and have gotten a first look at the official title card for the series that’s set to return viewers to the franchise’s most interesting locale.

Eyes of Wakanda is set to be the first Black Panther-related project since the sequel film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, released in 2022, and the second animated anthology series in the MCU’s Disney+ era. The show will explore the deeds of some of the heroes of Wakandan lore and some of T’Challa’s ancestors over its four-episode run on the streamer and will be canon to the sacred timeline despite the anthology format being chosen as the vehicle for the show. While Marvel Studios execs were once fearful of Ryan Coogler’s first Black Panther film, the tides have changed, and the now-proven appeal of the nation and its heroes is set to be the first Disney+ project of the MCU’s sixth phase, with Coogler developing.

A Thunderbolts* movie plot rumor teases a heartbreaking story for one team member, who may bond with another Marvel character over their trauma.

Wakanda and the lore surrounding it in the MCU have only become more of a focal point following the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, and so anticipation for Eyes of Wakanda has been understandably eager in certain quarters of the fandom. Marvel recently revealed its 2025 slate for Disney+ shows alongside a first look at Wonder Man, and that announcement included a release date for Eyes of Wakanda, which is set to hit the streaming service in August of 2025. While none of the shows were given a lot of substantial footage, fans did get to see the official title card for the shows, which also served to lock in the title Eyes of Wakanda once and for all. The art is all too familiar to MCU fans, seemingly keeping with the anthology precedent set by What If…?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set a new Disney+ record when it dropped on the streamer, but Eyes of Wakanda is set to deliver something that the MCU is lacking more so than successful past projects: a genuine attempt to put out some worldbuilding outside of the narrative-pushing MCU formula. There’s no telling where the franchise is really going long-term, but there’s very little chance that the future of the MCU will be revealed in this four-part miniseries. Instead, fans get to enjoy stories that expand the actual storytelling base of the franchise, giving them a better understanding of the culture and motivations surrounding Wakanda and the Black Panther.

All in all, the series is an important step forward, as there are still tons of amazing Black Panther comic book storylines to potentially explore in the MCU, both with and without a T’Challa in the picture. While fans were certainly split on the decision to recast the role after Boseman’s tragic passing, the franchise is ready for more Wakandan stories, and Eyes of Wakanda is a solid first step in exploring some of that potential. Fans will still have to wait some more, but with a date and a logo put to it, the vast unknown is a whole lot more manageable in the meantime.

Eyes of Wakanda is set to premiere for streaming on Disney+ on August 6, 2025.
