The Most Valuable Cards In Pokemon TCG Platinum: Arceus
Pokemon TCG is faced with an incredible task when trying to adapt the god of all Pokemon into the card game. Will this simply be a Colorless Pokemon, or will each type get an adaptation? This is the mindset behind Pokemon TCG’s Arceus set, which contains many unique and valuable printings of Arceus as well as its best creation, shiny Pokemon.

Arceus Lv. X $23.21
How The Pokemon TCG Handles Arceus
One of the valuable Arceus cards that can be found within its own set, is Arceus Lv. X. While many cards share this name, there are a few differences that set them apart. For starters, the Moves that Arceus can use will need different Energy types.
This one can use Psychic Bolt which takes both Electric and Psychic Energy to use. It does 100 damage. While this may not be that impressive, Arceus Lv. X can also use any Move from its prior Arceus form that you have under it. It also takes the typing of the Arceus underneath it making it a pretty cool card to have in your collection.
7
Salamence Lv. X $25.36
Prize Cards Aplenty
Salamence is one of the coolest Dragon-type Pokemon from the Hoenn region. In the Pokemon TCG, the Arceus set also gives it a Lv. X variant that allows it to go one step beyond. This Salamence has one Move, which is Steam Blast. For four Energy including both Water and Fire-type Energy, Steam Blast will do 100 damage.
While this doesn’t seem great either, it’s the Poke Power, Double Fall, that made it worth it. This is the chance to get a second Prize card each time Salamence knocks out a Pokemon. This can help you get all six faster during the format that it was usable.
6
Arceus Lv. X $40.15
The Power Grass And Fire
Arceus Lv. X has another variant which has a different card art and a different Move than its other printings. This one has the Move Meteor Blast, which does 100 damage for a combination of Grass and Fire Energy. However, this is not consistent, since you have to flip a coin for the Move to have the full effect.

Regardless, this card is unique since it is also one of the few cards that says that you can have as many copies of the card in your deck as you want. This breaks the old rule of only having four copies of each name per deck. So it’s a neat little piece of trivia when you show off this card in your collection.
5
Charizard $41.91
Charizard Returns
While this may not be the most powerful Charizard, it does manage to make it to the top when it comes to the most valuable cards. This Charizard has holographic foiling which makes it the perfect addition to your binder full of sparkling cards.
What makes this card so interesting is its Fire Formation Poke Body. As long as you keep your bench full of Fire-type Pokemon, you can do an additional 50 damage for each attack. So Fire Wing, which normally does 30 damage for one Energy, can do 80 instead. Burning Tail also does 130 instead of 80 under these circumstances.
4
Bagon $44.00
Make Collector’s Green With Envy
Some shiny Pokemon don’t have that much of a difference in terms of color. However, others like Bagon pop out more due to their vibrant color. The shiny Bagon found in the Arceus set of the Pokemon TCG, shows the Pokemon standing on the rocks of a roaring steam.
It may not have the greatest Moves, but the card itself is worth collecting. It has a reflective foiling that covers the card’s body and, thanks to its Colorless typing, this reflection looks so much better on the normally white card. So if you’re out hunting for shiny Pokemon cards, then this is one you don’t want to miss.
3
Gengar $83.84
Give Your Collection Some Scare Power
If you want to scare your opponent, the best thing you can do is shuffle a card on the field back into their deck. This means they need to have the cards necessary to fetch it again or draw into it by chance. The Gengar Lv. X found in the Arceus set can do this by using its Pokemon Power, Level-Down.
This can keep your opponent from using Lv. X Pokemon. Meanwhile, Compound Pain can hit all of your opponent’s Pokemon at once if they already have damage counters on them. So, aside from being a gorgeous holographic card with a sparkling-eyed Gengar popping out at you, it is also an absolute menace.
2
Shinx $85.29
Shinx Does Its Best
The shiny variant of Shinx turns the normally blue cub into a yellow one. This is perfect because the card body is also yellow, giving it that perfect color coordination that some of the most aesthetically pleasing Pokemon cards have.
This Shinx’s Star Barrier Poke Body gets rid of all its weaknesses if it has any Energy attached to it. If your opponent is one Prize away from victory, Shinx’s Payback Move does 40 damage instead of ten. This isn’t much, but it’s always nice to have your Pokemon step up in the face of adversity.
1
Ponyta $107.98
The Most Valuable Card In the Arceus Set
If you’re wondering what the best card to pull from Pokemon Platinum: Arceus is, then you’ll be surprised to know that it is a shiny Ponyta. This is not a powerful legendary Pokemon but one of the most underrated Fire-type Pokemon from the Kanto region.
Like some of the other shiny Pokemon, this Ponyta has Star Barrier as a Poke Body. It also has a Move that reflects its card art, which is named Blue Fire. This does 50 damage for two Energy. When you take a closer look you really come to realize just how majestic a blue-flamed Ponyta can be. So if you have it, feel free to gush over having the most valuable Ponyta card ever printed.
