There are some mechanics and features that are not explained to players in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

What Happens If You Choose Neve?

Players that choose Neve will enlist the mage’s assistance in toppling the statues over and interrupting Solas’ ritual, leaving Harding to buy you some time by holding off any incoming enemies. This will be met with great approval by Neve, as she will risk everything to stop Solas from finishing what he has set out to do.

There are some short and long-term consequences of making this decision. If you choose Neve, she will be injured during the events of the ritual, which will leave her with long-term bruising on her face. While it’s not ideal for her, there aren’t any notable debuffs or repercussions to this. The short-term downside will only affect the mission that follows their time at the Lighthouse, whereby Neve will be better off resting while Harding and Rook set out to find Bellara.

What Happens If You Choose Harding?

On the other hand, asking Harding to help you thwart Solas’ plans will be greatly approved of by the dwarf, who will also risk everything to stop Solas from completing the ritual. This will leave Harding with the cosmetic aftermath of the encounter, as she’ll be sporting a bruised face as the adventure continues.

Just as is the case if you chose Neve, the decision to enlist the help of Harding will mean she’s not in adequate shape to go looking for Bellara, but will be back for the eventual visit to D’Meta and its mayor. Once you set out for the village, you’ll be reunited with the missing member of your party.

Essentially, there aren’t any significant long-term consequences of your choice between Neve and Harding, so you can make your decision without too much concern of what will happen in the future. Once you get up to the quest involving the village of D’Meta, you’ll have a complete party and the story will continue the same way.

The only real consideration to make is which character you are looking to gain favor with. While there are a plethora of opportunities to gain the approval of both characters, and this decision won’t lock out any romance options, it will give you a head start if you’re looking to win the affections of Neve or Harding.
