ReFantazio The Cockatrice In The Clouds Bounty Guide
Quick Links
Bounties are an easy way for you to earn Reeve and also increase your popularity in Metaphor: ReFantazio. During the last month of the game, your rank will be much lower than it recently was, and completing side activities such as the newly available bounties is a great way to get it back up before the end of the game.
While your popularity at the end of the game won’t change the ending, it can be a great source of MAG, and facing down these difficult bounties will reward the party with large sums of XP. One of the later bounties that can be started during the final month is the Cockatrice In The Clouds, which will bring players face-to-face with the Kokamordos; here’s how to beat it.

An absolute must for this battle is Marakukaja, which can be learned from the Magic Knight or the Commander. Make sure whoever has this skill has a large pool of MP so that they can cask the skill every three turns to keep the buff active throughout the fight. Also have a character with an Archetype from the Brawler lineage, specifically the Pugilist or Martial Artist as they each learn a pierce attack. You’ll also want an Archetype of the Mage lineage, with a priority on learning ice spells for whatever Archetype you have unlocked. This boss also has many party-wide attacks, so having a Healer lineage Archetype who can cover the entire party is a great bonus.
All of these skills can be passed on to other Archetypes
through Skill Inheritance
if you’d rather gain XP for a specific Archetype.

Metaphor: ReFantazio – Dread Weather Explained
Dread is a unique weather condition in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here’s what it does and if it can be cleared or not.
- Level 67
- Weak – Ice & Pierce
- Absorbs – Fire
During your first turn, use Marakukaja on the party and make sure the buff from that skill never wears off. While any level of buff works, it is advised to reach rank three buffed defense during the first three turns and keep up those buffs instead of slowly working your way through over the next few turns. The boss has an insta-kill attack known as Peck Of Death that will target a random ally should the boosted defense wear off.
The main attacks you’ll see throughout the fight will be an attack-all dark and fire attack, though fully buffed defense will help make these fairly ineffective. It also knows the physical attack Hell Thrust that will lower your defense, along with a debuff skill that lowers both the attack and defense of one party member. For the most part, the lowered attack can be ignored, as you’ll want to prioritize getting any party member’s defense back up if it is lowered by one of those skills. It’s helpful to have a party member with Dekunda that goes before the party member with Marakukaja to make sure defense is set back to zero before buffing them again. Having a rank-three defense will also help give some additional room for protection from being a target of Peck Of Death.
Your main damage dealer for this fight will be whoever has the Brawler lineage Archetype, as their pierce skill will not only hit the weakness but also lower the defense of the enemy. Have the party member with Ice magic always use it, to gain the additional Press Turn icon along with the one from the Pierce damage. Have those two always focus on dealing damage, while the other two party members focus on healing and keeping up defense buffs, treating that just as important as keeping your health up.
