Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Has God Packs
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is released, and within the first few days players make an important discovery related to the so-called ‘god packs.’
This pre-Halloween release has been an immense success, according to Sensor Tower Insights Analyst Sam Aune. Speaking to GameFile‘s Stephen Totilo, Aune recently estimated that Pokemon TCG Pocket generated $1.9 million in revenue on release day. This would make it the third most successful mobile game launch of all time. Whether that’s actually the case remains to be seen, as The Pokemon Company has yet to share any sales figures, and Aune notes that Sensor Tower’s current data is merely preliminary.
Millions Of People Are Already Playing Pokemon TCG Pocket
As for other early metrics, Aune estimates that the game was downloaded approximately 1.2 million times on launch day. The Pokemon Company, for its part, previously said that Pokemon TCG Pocket amassed 10 million downloads in its first 48 hours on the market. This would suggest that it managed to grow its day-one installed base nearly ninefold by day two.
The Pokemon Company hence appears to have another massive mobile hit on its hands. For added context, Pokemon TCG Pocket took only two days to surpass the total downloads that Pokemon Sleep achieved in its first year. It’s hence looking likely that the game will have no trouble exceeding Pokemon Sleep‘s revenue figures as well. On that note, Sensor Tower estimates that Pokemon TCG Pocket generated $2.8 million on October 31, bringing its total sales to $4.7 million in the first two days.
This reported day-two revenue spike might have been at least partially fueled by the addition of a second, more expensive in-game store shortly following Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s release. This happened shortly after the game announced its very first Wonder Pick Event. The promotion will offer players an opportunity to obtain special promo cards by leveraging the Wonder Pick feature, which is normally used for receiving a random card from a pack pulled by another player. The reward pool for the first iteration of this event will include unique Meowth and Chansey cards. Pokemon TCG Pocket players will be able to participate in the promo until November 22.
