Cooking is one of the many activities you can do during your free time while the Gauntlet Runner is traveling in Metaphor: ReFantazio. As you progress through the story, you’ll get new recipes to cook along with finding new ingredients to use in those recipes.
Cooked foods are all consumables that can be used in combat or in a dungeon, ranging from restoration items to damage-dealing items that deal Almighty damage. One of the rarer ingredients that players won’t normally come across is Fragrant Spice, which is used in some of the best recipes available; here’s where to buy some.

Your mouth will water and your stats will boost with these recipes.
Fragrant Spice can only be purchased in one place back in Martira. Using fast travel, you can come back to this city at any point throughout the game though it’s best to stock up so you don’t need to make constant trips back and forth. In Martira, head to the Cattleracket Road found just south of the King’s Rock, and look along the left side of the road to the Greengrocer Girl.
This is the one merchant in the game that sells Fragrant Spice, and each one will cost 100 Reeve. Unfortunately, there is no way to purchase this item in bulk, so buying many can be a fairly tedious process as you need to go through her full dialogue just to buy one.

Metaphor: ReFantazio – How To Recover MP
MP management is a key factor in dungeon exploration in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here’s how to recover MP easily.
In total, Fragrant Spice is only used for the three following recipes:
Recipe Name |
Ingredients |
Effects |
---|---|---|
Stale Blackbread |
|
Deals 300 Almighty damage to one enemy. |
Invincible Noodles |
|
Gain immunity in the field for 60 seconds. |
Benevolent Bread |
|
All party members gradually restore HP while walking in a dungeon for 60 seconds. |
Overall the best use for Fragrant Spice is either the Stale Blackbread or Invincible Noodles. Invincible Noodles can make exploring a difficult dungeon much easier, though you want to make sure you don’t overuse it and have your party under-leveled for the boss at the end. Stale Blackbread is always a good option as 300 damage is good throughout the game, and Almighty damage will always go through, making it especially useful against enemies with a lot of resistance.
