However, getting the cards you want ultimately comes down to luck. To get EX or rarer cards, you’ll have to get extremely lucky with your pack pulls. Luckily, with Pack Points, you can mitigate this somewhat and work towards cards of your choosing. Below, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know about Pack Points.

How To Get Pack Points

The three different types of booster packs in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Every time you open a booster pack, you’ll get five Pack Points. These are persistent across expansions and pack types, so you’ll accumulate them over time no matter which packs you’re opening. You can hold a maximum of 2,500 Pack Points.

You can open one pack for free every 12 hours, or use Pack Hourglasses to speed up the timer and open a pack right away.

If you select a card you don’t have in your collection, then tap on it, you can add it to your Wishlist. Cards on your Wishlist will be marked as such if they happen to appear in Wonder Picks.

What To Spend Your Pack Points On

When considering the scarcity of Pack Points and the extremely high cost of rare cards, you may be hesitant to spend the currency. Ultimately, how you spend your Pack Points is up to you and how you want to develop your collection, but we have some suggestions.

One of the best uses for Pack Points is to buy cheap cards to complete a deck. One and Two-Diamond cards are cheap enough that you can usually buy a few at a time, which is especially helpful for finishing out a deck. Trainer cards or Stage One Pokemon cards typically fall within this category.

To add to this, it’s an especially good idea to spend your Pack Points on cards that don’t appear in the pack type you’re focusing on. For example, if you’re only pulling from Genetic Apex – Mewtwo, then it’s a good idea to buy cards that only appear in Charizard or Pikachu packs.

On the other end of the spectrum, you can save up your Pack Points to spend them on an expensive ex card. This will take a long time of saving, but will ensure you get an otherwise extremely difficult card to obtain.
