Fortnite server status and extended downtime
Are the Fortnite servers down? While the downtime between patches and season changes is usually predictable, there are occasions when something more serious has occurred, warranting prolonged maintenance.
Any downtime in Fortnite is annoying, particularly if you’ve only got a few hours in the day to play the battle royale game, but the servers can go down at any point. If that is the case right now, you can always check out the latest Fortnite map or Fortnite weapons to discover the new meta. With all that out of the way, here’s the latest info on whether Fortnite is down.
Are the Fortnite servers down?
The Fortnite servers are currently down for maintenance ahead of the v32.00 update and the start of Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix. Downtime began at Friday November 1 at 11pm PT, or Saturday November 2 at 2am ET / 6am GMT / 7am CET.
This downtime has lasted a little longer than initially planned. The Fortnite Status account on X (formerly Twitter) also adds that it’s having issues with accessing UEFN while servers are down. “Looks like we’ve got some kinks to work out when it comes to using UEFN offline. We’ll get this sorted for future downtime, thank you for your patience.”
Generally speaking, Fortnite servers only go down during maintenance periods between patch updates or when demand is increased to the point of overloading servers, such as the first day of Lego Fortnite going live. There have been exceptions where things have taken longer, though, like the prolonged downtime at the start of Chapter 5 Season 2 where the maintenance period was extended by eight hours.
As soon as the Fortnite servers are no longer down, you should be able to buy or earn the latest Fortnite skins. If you’re looking for something else to play in the meantime, we have a list of the best new PC games and all the upcoming PC games for 2024 and beyond.
