Fortnite Is Adding Jordans, Nike Kicks To Game

Key Takeaways

  • Fortnite is going retro with the upcoming Chapter 2 Remix event.
  • As part of the reveal, it was announced that Nike and Jordan sneakers would be added to the game.
  • Beginning November 12, players can begin customizing their character with a pair of Jordans.
  • That said, not every character will be compatible at first, and Epic hopes to have more than 95% of available outfits compatible by the spring.

If you made it through Fortnite’s “Fortnite: Remix: The Prelude” event, including mini concerts from Ice Spice and Snoop Dogg, then you were treated to a bombastic trailer for Fortnite’s upcoming Chapter 2 Remix event.

As my colleague George highlighted in his report, Ice Spice, Snoop Dogg and an updated version of Eminem will be added to the free-to-play live-service shooter. There was also a tease for Juice WRLD, along with the reveal that Snoop Dogg’s mansion would be a POI.

A live-service game is a live-service game, regardless of how cool FBC: Firebreak looks.

That said, there was another tease baked into the trailer — Jordan sneakers. In a somewhat blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, the iconic line of footwear by Nike was shown as part of an outfit.

Now, via Fortnite’s official website, Epic has confirmed that Kicks will soon be part of the massively popular game.

Soon Everyone Will Have Sneakers

Beginning November 12, and as part of the Remix Pass, Fortnite is introducing Kicks into the game. They are exactly as the name implies, cosmetic sneakers that can be equipped for a character.

Per the website, the initial batch of Kicks will feature Nike and Jordan sneakers, along with some “Fortnite originals.” The website notes that other brands will join the list of available sneakers in the future, meaning any number of Adidas, New Balance and Balenciaga, among other brands, could be featured.

As it stands, though, not every character will be able to make use of Kicks. “Kicks will be compatible with over 500 of the most popular Fortnite Outfits to start, with more than 95% of Outfits compatible by Spring of next year,” the website notes. That is likely due to the fact that not every character was designed around specific sneakers, wears shoes or some combination.

“While there are a few Outfits that are particularly challenging to style Kicks for, we’re working hard to make sure that as many Outfits as possible can throw on a fresh pair,” the post concludes. More info will apparently be shared before launch, though it looks like the initial pair of Jordans will be part of that Remix Pass. The first “Fortnite Original” pair won’t, however. Either way, it’s a unique addition that will certainly bring in money.
