Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix splits players over its artist POI takeovers

Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix is here, but it doesn’t have everyone enthralled. While it brings back that chapter’s beloved map, the community is split on just how Epic has implemented the revival. Multiple points of interest are steadily being taken over by the likes of Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Ice Spice, revamping their visuals and offering new challenges. While some POI changes are yet to come, many are already frustrated with Chapter 2 Remix’s focus on musicians, and what they mean for this chance to revisit the old-school map.

Just like with Fortnite OG, Chapter 2 Remix brings back a fan-favorite iteration of the battle royale game’s map. Classic locales like Weeping Woods and Misty Meadows are back, but some planned changes have many players upset. Instead of leaving your nostalgia intact, Chapter 2 Remix is bringing in some music icons to take over the biggest locations.

On Saturday November 2 Snoop Dogg is overtaking the Agency Compound and turning it into The Doggpound, and it doesn’t end there. Eminem is overhauling the Grotto cave with the Mom’s Spaghetti diner later in the month, and Ice Spice is taking over Shark Island as well. An entirely new landmark is also arriving towards the end of November, as the late Juice Wrld’s own POI arrives alongside a big finale event.

The POI changes are as follows:

  • The Agency Compound becomes The Doggpound on Saturday November 2
  • The Grotto cave becomes the Mom’s Spaghetti diner on Thursday November 7
  • Shark Island becomes Ice Isle on Thursday November 14
  • WRLD Point is introduced on Thursday November 21

Compared to what Epic did with the original Fortnite OG season, some players aren’t too pleased with these POI takeovers happening in Chapter 2 Remix. Keep in mind that most of the map is the same as it was in Fortnite Chapter 2, but these POI changes have still split player opinion.

Some are upset that locales like Shark Island and the Agency Compound are being changed in Chapter 2 Remix, while others aren’t nearly as attached to these old-school POIs. “Genuinely want to know how they thought it’d be a good idea to take a fan favorite chapter, rip out the charm and originality, and fill it with advertisements and collabs. I’m baffled,” one Reddit post reads. “Please tell me you’re joking? You didn’t just turn the OG 2 into a music festival. Remixing the OG things we love into this,” adds another.

Meanwhile, the weekly artist takeovers are being embraced by others. “I like this version more,” one player writes. “I don’t know about the Ice Spice shark fusion, or the name ‘The Doggpound,’ but other than that I’m one of the few who genuinely loves the look of this season.”

You can still play with some of Fortnite’s unvaulted weapons, mind you. Guns like the dual pistols, tactical shotgun, suppressed SMG, hunting rifle, grenade launcher, and even clinger grenades are back. The boogie bomb has also made a return, albeit in a different, Snoop Dogg-adjacent form.
