Double Exposure Players Think Cat DLC Is A “Waste Of Money”
Key Takeaways
- Life is Strange: Double Exposure has a $20 questline that has Max taking care of a stray cat.
- Although cute, most players really aren’t happy with the quest and are calling it a “waste of money”.
- Other problems include it being advertised to players between chapters and it having trophies that take away from the glorious 100 percent completion.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure players aren’t happy with the $20 Exclusive Cat Content DLC, with many calling it “useless” and a “waste of money”.
Although the Life is Strange games have long since moved past episodic releases and now just come as one big game (albeit one split up into chapters), that doesn’t mean that they’re completely free of DLC and additional purchases. That’s just been made clear by Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

Double Exposure is half cosy Christmas party, half nightmare.
Like pretty much every game nowadays, Double Exposure has a digital deluxe edition that not only gave players early access to the game’s first two episodes, but also includes some rather (Chloe) pricey DLC. The first of these is a bunch of cosmetics for Max, while the second and more expensive is an exclusive $20 questline that has Max taking in a cat.
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure’s Exclusive Cat Content Called A “Waste Of Money”
The Exclusive Cat Content (yes, that’s really what it’s called) kicks off in Chapter 2 and sees Max running into a stray cat that she can choose the colour and name of. You then tidy up Max’s house, feed and pet the cat, and then have it hanging around in the Living timeline whenever Max is at home.
While the cat is certainly cute and has some nice moments with Max, it seems that most players aren’t all that fussed on the DLC, with a lot of fans calling it out as a “waste of money”. One such player is Redditor evanamyl, who shared on the Life is Strange subreddit that they regretted spending $80 on the Ultimate Edition for such a short and “tossed in” quest.
The comments underneath the thread agree with that sentiment, with fans calling out the lack of interactions with the cat, the unclear language used to describe the quest, and its overall lack of impact on the main story. Some fans weren’t even aware of the choices that could be made in the quest, with some keeping the cat simply because they didn’t know they could return it to its owner.
There are a lot of posts on the subreddit about the DLC as a whole and they all seem pretty negative so far, especially considering the DLC is $20 for a short quest and some outfits. It’s a far cry from some of the expansions that Life is Strange has had in the past, and yet another mark against the reception to Double Exposure.
