Classic N64 Platformer Teases New Features and Release Window for Console Re-Release

Key Takeaways

  • Classic Nintendo 64 platformer Glover is coming to modern consoles in 2025.
  • New features for Glover include achievements and a concept art gallery.
  • A physical edition for Glover on Switch and PS5 was confirmed a while ago.

Classic Nintendo 64 platformer Glover has confirmed that it will finally arrive on modern consoles in 2025, with developer QUByte Interactive also teasing a couple of features coming to the game. Glover made its Nintendo 64 debut back in 1998 but will soon be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Glover was received decently upon its release 26 years ago, but has gained cult status in the years since. Its unique gameplay involves players trying to move a ball from one area of the level to another while playing as a glove – the titular Glover. Players can transform this ball into different materials, changing it depending on the level’s requirements. It’s a great puzzle platformer game with an extremely unique concept, and one that gamers should definitely try at least once. Sadly, Glover never received a sequel, so its modern re-releases will have to suffice.

A new trailer released by QUByte Interactive has confirmed that Glover is finally coming to modern consoles in 2025. While this release window remains vague, it’s better than nothing. The Glover console release was first confirmed back in 2022, but little was known of its progress so far. On the surface, it does appear to be a direct port of older versions of the game, although Glover clearly benefits from the higher resolution possible on modern devices.

Glover is Coming to Modern Consoles in 2025

Despite this, the new trailer does tease a few new features coming to Glover when it releases in 2025. A quick glimpse at the “Extras” menu appears, teasing achievements and a gallery. Achievements were not included in Glover‘s 2022 PC re-release, so this will be an entirely new list for completionists to sink their teeth into. Meanwhile, the gallery will allow players to view concept art pieces from the original game, which should prove to be a fun deep-dive into the 1998 cult classic’s history.

There was a sense that more news about Glover‘s release was forthcoming. A couple of months ago, it was confirmed that Glover was getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch and PS5, which came as a huge surprise. Pre-orders for this physical edition opened at the time, although there was still no sign of a release window for the game. It was always unlikely to be long before this was eventually confirmed, but it still remains to be seen whether Glover will be an early or late 2025 release.
