What Is Dread Weather In Metaphor: ReFantazio
Bad weather can make exploration in Metaphor: ReFantazio very difficult. Usually, bad weather takes away additional Press Turn icons earned when hitting the weakness of an enemy, which can make any dungeon or fight much more difficult on higher difficulties. These weather effects also don’t negatively impact the enemy, making it not advisable to enter a dungeon when there is bad weather.
During the final playable month of the game, right before the point of no return, players will see the new Dread weather effect. While habit will tell players that any weather effect is bad, this one is different from all those previously seen. This effect can be seen in every town and will affect the entire continent. Here’s exactly what it does and if you can get rid of it.

The Dread weather effect is more of a story element than an actual weather effect, as it has no gameplay impact while in a dungeon. The entire continent will be affected, and there is no way to clear the weather using Edeni or by clearing the dungeon early on, though it is nothing to worry about. During the final month of the game, consider dread as just good weather, and the right time to enter a dungeon.
Other types of bad weather that do affect dungeons like usual will still happen, such as Blight. This real bad weather is displayed with a purple icon, and this can be cleared up using Edeni, after clearing the Dragon Temple, as usual. While clearing bad weather is always an option, the last month of free time gives you many days to skip exploring dungeons and wait out bad weather instead of spending resources clearing the weather and exploring on the day you want to.
Blight will appear worldwide, but can also be checked using a Fortune Teller in any city
for 250 Reeve
, along with the forecast for the next two days.
While there are no gameplay changes that come with the Dread weather effect, it does cover much of the game in a red filter, especially the skies of any city or area of the game. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about it for the rest of your current playthrough, and the only way to see the clear skies of Euchronia again is by either starting a new game plus playthrough or starting over, as this Dread effect will continue until the last playable day in the game.
