The King of Fighters ALLSTAR has shut down on October 30, 2024
The King of Fighters ALLSTAR, the action RPG from Netmarble has officially bid its goodbyes to the mobile screens following its shut down on October 30, 2024. The announcement of the end of service was made four months ago, and at the time of writing, the game has been removed from the app stores and won’t work anymore.
The King of Fighters ALLSTAR had a stellar run for six years since its Japan release in 2018
Released by Netmarble in October 2019 globally after its Japan release the year prior, The King of Fighters ALLSTAR was based on the iconic King of Fighters franchise. It offered fans of the series a chance to experience a mobile adaptation packed with intense combat, strategic team-building, and thrilling PvE and PvP modes.
The game quickly gained a loyal following for its combination of classic beat ‘em up mechanics, RPG progression, and vibrant character roster. The visuals and events were also a fan favorite, and they kept players engaged. However, this year seemed to finally stop this run of the game as earlier this June 2024, makers announced closing the title and the day has come.
The developer’s announcement hinted that one reason behind the decision was the difficulty in keeping the game balanced while incorporating such a vast character roster, including multiple crossover characters. The collaborations were pretty high in number for the game, and that might have come to bite the creative side of adding new faces.
The King of Fighters is a strong IP, so expect that we’ll get some better replacements for the game pretty soon. We have a new idle RPG The King of Fighters AFK, which was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, so hoping that the title fills this void and offers a stunning gameplay experience.
