Star Rail’s Rappa Fits In The Current Meta
Players finally got to test Rappa out after her Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.6 release on October 23, 2024, and she’s a great DPS, as expected. As an Erudition character with an AOE skill and blast+AOE ultimate, she’s a beast in Pure Fiction. However, reliable tier list makers and reviewers also consistently place the new Imaginary unit in Tier 1 or Tier 0 for the game’s current Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow patches. She comfortably fits the game’s meta for many different reasons.
Rappa’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail is simple but effective, with her main sources of HP and toughness damage being her ultimate talent. Rappa immediately gains an extra turn after activating her ult, where she can throw out three enhanced basic attacks. The first two do Blast damage, while the final one hits all enemies on the field, and each one massively reduces enemy toughness regardless of their element. Meanwhile, her talent is a charge system fueled by breaking enemy weaknesses. Each charge improves the Break DMG final hit of Rappa’s enhanced basic attack during her ultimate.

This Rumored Honkai: Star Rail Feature Could Be a Good Sign For the Astral Express
The rumored new feature coming to Honkai: Star Rail’s Astral Express can be good news for fans looking for more things to do on the train.
There are different factors for Rappa’s high ranking in tier lists, like the current state of the endgame modes, meta team compositions, and future releases that could support her playstyle.
Rappa is a Perfect Fit for the Standard Break Team
The premier Break roster in Honkai: Star Rail usually consists of supports Harmony Trailblazer and Ruan Mei, plus a Break DMG-amping sustain like Gallagher or Lingsha. Players usually build this composition around Firefly. However, this team is also great for Rappa, as the supporting units further improve her ability to shred toughness bars and deal big Break DMG. Harmony Trailblazer is especially crucial for Rappa, as they’re currently the only unit that can provide a Super Break buff to allies. The future Nihility character Fugue is also rumored to have a Super Break mechanic in her kit, which could potentially make her a great addition to Rappa’s team.
Even Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow Currently Favor Rappa
Erudition units usually struggle in game modes with small enemy waves like Memory of Chaos and single-target bosses like Apocalyptic Shadows, as their abilities are usually effective when hitting as many enemies as possible. However, this limitation doesn’t seem to apply to Rappa in the current phases of MoC and AS. Here’s why.
- Scalegorge Tidalflow (MoC): The current Memory Turbulence Effect for this phase gives enemies Exo-Toughness, which is an extra toughness bar that appears after their initial weakness break. Rappa can whittle down this bar to inflict massive Weakness Break damage and trigger her Imaginary break type again.
- Sovereign Control (AS): Apocalyptic Shadow is essentially a playground of Break DPSes because it provides big rewards for breaking a boss’ toughness bar. The current effect for the latest AS patch recovers skill points, activates all ultimates, and increases the Weakness Break DMG and Follow-up DMG taken by opponents by 20% each. The ult refresh heavily favors Rappa, as she wants to be in her Sealform state as much as possible. The additional Break DMG debuff is just the icing on the “massive super break damage” cake for her.
Most players exclusively assign their Erudition units for Pure Fiction use. However, Rappa seems to be breaking that convention, especially in this series of patches for AS and MoC. Plus, the addition of Fugue in Honkai: Star Rail‘s upcoming 2.7 update could take her damage to new heights. Only time will tell if she’ll keep her high rating across the board when the endgame meta inevitably shifts to a damage type other than Break.
