A group of Pokemon GO players has devised a unique strategy to beat Gigantamax Gengar using Dynamax Metagross, achieving the incredible feat of defeating the Pokemon with just four team members. Gigantamax Gengar has been one of the most difficult Pokemon to defeat for Pokemon GO players, but it seems like with the right strategy, players can outsmart the Pokemon with relative ease.

The debut of the Gigantamax feature in Pokemon GO had a lot of hype surrounding it, but fans were let down by several issues. One of the most frustrating issues players faced was getting false bans in Pokemon GO, which prevented them from playing the game altogether. Additionally, the difficulty level of the raids made things quite unenjoyable as well. However, it seems like some players have figured out a way to make one Gigantamax battle somewhat easier.

In a new post, Twitter user pokemapi highlights an incredible feat achieved by Pokemon GO player Tamako-san and their friends. Apparently, the player managed to beat Gigantamax Gengar with only four team members. Considering that users have reported that they have been unable to defeat Gigantamax Gengar even with teams of forty players in Pokemon GO, this is a glimmer of hope for many in the community. While the strategy isn’t that difficult to pull off, players will need a few things going their way.

Max Guard Might be Better Than Max Spirit for Gigantamax Gengar Raid

The trick to defeating Gigantamax Gengar seems to be using a combination of Dynamax Blastoise and Metagross. For the Dynamax Blastoise, the players seem to have opted for the moves Bite and Hydro Pump along with Max Darkness. As far as Dynamax Metagross is concerned, they have used the moves Zen Headbutt and Psychic along with Max Mindstorm and Max Guard. The unique trait of this strategy has been the use of Max Guard as the Max Move in Pokemon GO. While players have been using Max Spirit so far, Max Guard puts one user in the role of a defender. This turns out to be beneficial for the entire team as using a shield forces Gigantamax Gengar to focus on the player which takes less damage.

That being said, there are a few things that need to be taken note of. Firstly, it should be noted that the team gets an attack boost by Pokemon placed at the Power Spot by other Pokemon GO trainers. Additionally, the players have stated that it is probably a better idea to use a team of Dynamax Metagross instead of having Dynamax Blastoise. And, it is important to only take on Gigantamax Gengar when it has the moves Sludge Bomb, Sludge Wave, and Psychic, as other movesets might make the strategy less effective.
