Pokemon Fans Carve Pumpkins for Every Gen 7 Pokemon

A group of artistically talented and fiercely dedicated Pokemon fans have managed to carve a pumpkin for each Pokemon from the franchise’s seventh generation. The intensive project, which appears to have involved the work of at least half a dozen people, yields a visually stunning result that just about any fan of Pokemon or Halloween in general can appreciate.

Halloween 2024 has arrived, and with it a plethora of games getting themed content to celebrate the holiday, including several Pokemon titles. For example, Pokemon UNITE and Pokemon Cafe ReMix both have ongoing Halloween challenges, featuring costumed Pokemon. Pokemon GO is arguably holding the biggest festive celebration of all, with Part 2 of the Pokemon GO Halloween event kicking off recently, giving players the chance to nab a costumed Froakie and Rowlet along with Gigantamax Gengar in Max Battles. Pokemon fans have been showing their love for the franchise and the holiday as well, as can certainly be seen below.

The astonishing display of Pokemon-themed jack-o-lanterns was first posted by a Reddit user named Powwowowow, who posted the sprawling display of carved pumpkins to one of the site’s primary Pokemon pages. The roughly 30-second video opens up with a shot of the fan-favorite Alolan Exeggutor, cleverly carved as two stacked pumpkins to accentuate the Pokemon’s massive height. The video then makes several sweeping pans of the entire impressive array, pausing for a few moments on select carvings including Solgaleo, Mimikyu, Minior, and more. All 88 of the Gen 7 Pokemon are represented here, resulting in an unrivaled Pokemon-themed Halloween display.

The massive undertaking is clearly resonating with fellow Pokemon fans online, with the post receiving well over 1,000 upvotes within hours of being posted. Following comments by the post’s creator, a total of 100 pumpkins in all were carved, which includes the entirety of Gen 7 and the majority of Alolan forms. While it may be difficult to find another Pokemon fan who can match that kind of quantity, there are certainly others with carvings of the same quality. One Pokemon fan’s fiance carved Gastly’s evolutionary line on a single pumpkin, featuring Haunter, Gengar, and a cleverly incorporated Gigantamax Gengar.

Gotta Carve ’em All!

Beyond the usual carving of pumpkins, Pokemon fans have been flexing their creative Halloween muscle on other types of art projects. For example, one Pokemon fan created a Frankenstein-style figure which mashes up the franchise’s three original starters and Pikachu. The small-scale figure, which looks to be less than an inch tall, features the four classic Pokemon mashed together with black stitches, looking like something straight out of the horror genre. With the holiday season now here, it should be interesting to see what festive art pieces Pokemon fans come up with next.
