Is Apex Legends Steam Deck compatible? Sadly, Apex Legends has had its Steam Deck support removed thanks to a blanket ban applied to Linux OS by developer Respawn. In an attempt to stop cheaters from using Linux as an exploitable platform, the Steam Deck ultimately suffers, unless you’re willing to boot using Windows.
If you are to persist with booting via Windows, Apex Legends takes up 75GB of storage space, which hurts if you’re yet to expand your Deck’s horizons. Adding one of the best MicroSD cards for Steam Deck to your console will fix this issue quite easily though.
Is Apex Legends Steam Deck compatible?
Apex Legends is currently Unsupported on Steam Deck due to a Linux implemented by the game’s anti-cheat.
What was once one of the best Steam Deck games for its smooth performance, Apex Legends has now joined many other titles in the EA catalog in being Unsupported.
While Apex Legends hasn’t switched over to EA Anti-Cheat, yet, the decision was made to ban all Linux gaming PCs and handhelds from accessing the game as cheaters on the platform are harder to detect and a spoiling games for other players.
It seems like a harsh punishment, especially for those who are innocent but prefer to play using Linux or a Steam Deck, but this decision hasn’t been taken lightly. Perhaps if cheating in games doesn’t subside, Linux could return to the game in due time, but that seems rather unlikely right now.
