How To Increase Faction Strength In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Increasing Faction Strength in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will allow players to purchase stronger items, and get access to better prices, as well as to unlock certain objectives in the game. Here’s how they can improve faction strength to increase the reputation with each of the allied forces in Thedas:

  • Selling Valuable Items at the Faction merchant, located in each of the bases, present in an important location of the game (Antivan Crows: Treviso, Veil Jumpers: Arlathan Forest, Shadow Dragons: Minrathous, Lords of Fortune: Rivain, and so on).
  • Complete Main Quests, which will return a considerable amount of Faction Strength once players complete them.
  • Complete Secondary Quests, once players unlock every main location of the game, they can later return to them to check on the Factions they’re allied with, and take on secondary contracts to further increase their Faction Strength.

The Fastest Way to earn Faction Strength and increase reputation levels is, of course, to complete every secondary quest in the game. In the meantime, players should also know that there is a “hidden mechanic” that the game does not warn us about and is related to Valuable Items.

Valuable Items can not only be looted from containers, resource nodes, or dropped from enemies, but also appear when players destroy barrels, jugs, and other objects spread through the map. So, breaking apart all these things will automatically send Valuable Items to the players’ inventory, speeding up the process of selling and gaining reputation with the factions.

It is important to mention that the Faction the player chooses at the story’s beginning (during character creation) will provide a few dialogue options and
reputation increase perk
depending on the faction they choose. For example: we chose the Shadow Dragons, a faction that Rook now shares in common with Neve, one of the companions, this popped up several different dialogue options between the two, and had some influence on the way we gained a reputation with said faction, as well as access to alternative dialogue lines with the members of the organization.

All Factions In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Here’s some detailed information on every faction in Dragon Age: The Veilguard that will help players know them better and decide what’s the best approach to take when interacting with their members:

  • Veil Jumpers: Explorers, Scouts, Scholars of the Ancient Elven Ruins, the Veil Jumpers are the main source of knowledge on everything related to The Veil, the Eluvian Mirrors, and The Evanuris. It is the first faction players will come across within the Arlathan forest. Notable members of the faction include Bellara Lutare (one of Rook’s companions).
  • Shadow Dragons: Rebels, Freedom Fighters, Breakers of Chains. The Shadow Dragons are one of the allied factions from Tevinter, a group of mages and rogues that openly oppose the Magisters and their Iron Rule on the Empire. Notable members of the faction include Neve Gallus.
  • Antivan Crows: Assassins, Infiltrators, Rogues. The Antivan Crows are a legendary clan of spies and hitmen, rumored to be the best of all Thedas. Crows value their word and their patriotism above all else, and always fulfill their contracts. From the canals of the city of Treviso, to the high towers of every capital in the city, Antivan Crows are always watchful, seeking their prey under the guise of the moonlight. Notable members of the faction include Lucanis Dellamorte.
  • Lords of Fortune: Mercenaries, Adventurers, Fortune Seekers. The Lords of Fortune are the greatest guild of strongmen in Thedas, famous for incredible feats of strength and for their high rates as well. They are expert dragon hunters, with the Reavers (a Warrior subclass from Dragon Age: Inquisition) being their main force. Notable members of the faction include the companion dragon hunter Taash.
  • Grey Wardens: Honorable, Valiant, and always Vigilant. The Grey Wardens are an ancient order of powerful warriors, scouts, and mages capable of sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Through a secret initiation ritual, the Grey Wardens acquire the gift to detect the Blighted Darkspawn, and to resist their corruption. But they pay a heavy price for it, since they slowly but steadily lose their sanity until they embark on a final journey to the depths of Thedas, where they will fight one last battle and die taking as many Darkspawn as they can with them. Notable members of the faction include the warrior Davrin, one of the companions in the game.
  • Mourn Watch: Seekers of the Occult, Death Mages, Dark Scholars. The Mourn Watch is an elite faction of the Mortalitasi, Nevarra’s famous Death Mages, Necromancers, and Priests of the Dead. Their knowledge of the occult and dark forces of magic is unparalleled, and it is rumored that they can raise and control death, bending the very forces of nature to their will. Notable members of the faction include Emmrich Volkarin, one of the companions who will help Rook during their adventure.

No matter which Faction Rook chooses, these will always come with their own perks that modify one or two of Rook’s stats, or grant certain advantages during combat, like an additional Health Potion. The most important difference between all faction Perks is that each of them grants a faction reputation boost, as we mentioned before. That will determine how fast players can access the higher tiers of equipment faction vendors sell.
