Xbox is Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place Ahead of GTA 6
Sony recently unveiled its plan — albeit a controversial one — to make way for GTA 6’s release, but Microsoft’s silence is cause for concern.
In an interview with YouTube channel GTAVIOclock, former Rockstar dev Ben Hinchliffe discussed several topics, including the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. While the developer has left Rockstar Games, he previously worked on a number of massive hits from the developer, including LA Noire, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA 6. It’s been three years since the developer was with the company, but like series fans, he can’t wait to get his hands on the title. He says that the game will be an evolution for Rockstar, like all games before it were, and that the realism of the title will be greater than games that came before it.
Rockstar Raises the Bar on Realism in Grand Theft Auto 6
“You only have to look at how every game Rockstar has done has evolved in some way. You could argue that every element of the game moves forward in terms of feeling more realistic and people acting and behaving more realistic as every game is iterated through each cycle… I think [Rockstar] has raised the bar again just like they always do.”
The former dev expects that the game will “blow people away” and that the next GTA will sell extremely well, as every Grand Theft Auto game has since GTA 3 landed on the PS2. The developer notes that Rockstar has raised the bar once again. Considering that he stopped working with the company three years ago, this is particularly exciting, as the game has presumably undergone quite a bit more fine-tuning as time has progressed.
Rockstar Games has huge expectations to fulfill, and fans aren’t expecting anything less than for the company to bring its best, especially after the long period of time the game has been under development. As Hinchliffe notes, every Rockstar game has taken a step further to make the world feel more real, improving upon everything from tiny details that weren’t noticed for years in Red Dead Redemption 2 to improved NPC behavior. Obviously, the ex-dev can’t give away too much, but it sounds like fans have nothing to worry about when it comes to the next entry in the franchise.
