Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail left us on a pretty high note, wrapping up the story nicely while also teasing just enough to lead into the post-expansion patches. There were plenty of mysteries left for players to speculate about, one of which was the identity of Gulool Ja’s mother, who was rather strangely absent during the events of Dawntrail. Turns out, Patch 7.1 might tell us why.
If you haven’t finished Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail’s story, then you’re going to want to duck out now.
In the Final Fantasy 14 live letter that went live earlier today, we got a new fancy trailer for Patch 7.1, which gave us quick looks at pretty much everything coming in Crossroads. At the start, we got a decent look at the MSQ, which starts off with a funeral procession for Princess Sphene, as the citizens of Solution 9 mourn their queen alongside the game’s cast and our Warriors of Light.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1 Story Quests Will Introduce Galool Ja’s Mother
We then get a very quick look at the new dungeon (Yuwewata Field Station), which Yoshi-P explained during the live letter will be easier than the optional level 100 dungeons since this one is part of the MSQ. A few moments later, we see a black and white shot of Gulool Ja, with both Zoraal Ja and a female Mamool Ja holding a baby in the background, which seems to suggest the MSQ will go into his parents.

And it’s not even the gameplay I’m worried about, it’s Prishe’s design.
This same Mamool Ja can then be seen in full in a short scene a few moments later, though a filter is over the top of this scene too. We don’t actually see Gulool Ja’s mother interact with the game’s main cast in any way, so it’s very possible that his mother may be intorduced to us through flashback of a well-placed Echo vision from our Warrior of Light.
Either way, it seems as though Patch 7.1 will clear up this mystery once and for all, and it also seemingly shoots down speculation that Gulool Ja was a weird clone of Zoraal Ja. As for when you’ll be able to play through the new MSQ quests, and the new Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raid, it was revealed during the live letter that Patch 7.1 will release on November 12, which was rumored back when the patch was first announced.
