Key Takeaways
- Hydaelyn and Zodiark have been turned into plushes by Square Enix.
- How the warring deities are depicted in a cave painting is Shadowbringers is the design chosen for the soft toys.
- Pre-orders are open at Aitia Kuji which puts them at roughly $30 each. They’re not being sold as a bundle.
Between Moogles, Chocobos, and the countless other creatures and critters you can encounter while exploring Final Fantasy’s many worlds, there’s a big well to pull from when it comes to inspiration for new plushes. That’s what makes Square Enix‘s latest plush reveal all the more curious as the studio has leaned away from the soft and cuddly things it could turn into soft toys and instead gone with a couple of Final Fantasy 14‘s most powerful beings.
Square’s newest Final Fantasy plushes are based on Hydaelyn and Zodiark. Well, actually, that’s not entirely accurate. Hydaelyn and Zodiark have pretty detailed designs that don’t exactly lend themselves to being turned into plushes. That’s why Square has gotten creative with its want to turn them into toys and used the way the supernatural beings are depicted in a cave painting you can find in FF14’s Shadowbringers expansion.

A comparison with the cave painting from Shadowbringers shows that the plush designs are pretty spot on. Unsure who at Square looked at the painting and thought to themselves “Now those two would make great plushes”, but somebody must have, and here we are. The plush pair don’t appear to be listed on any of the Square Enix stores just yet, but pre-orders for them are already open at Aitai Kuji which means we know how much they cost.
Hydaelyn and Zodiark Have Been Turned Into Plushes
Well, Paintings Of Them Have
Even though the plushes are pictured together and share a store page at Aitia Kuji, the price shown is not for both of them. They’re sold separately and you will need to choose which one you want from the drop down before adding it to your cart. The Hydaelyn and Zodiark plushes are 4,500 yen each which is a little less than $30. At almost 12 inches tall, that doesn’t seem like too high an asking price, although ordering them through Aitai Kuji means shipping from Japan will increase that price a fair bit.
