Time flies, and honestly it doesn’t feel that long since Dawntrail, FFXIV’s latest expansion, released – but in fact it’s almost been three months, and it’s time for the first major update to the expansion, patch 7.1.
Final Fantasy XIV has five major story patches an expansion, and this will be the first. Besides some story (which we’re really looking forward to), exactly what is arriving in Patch 7.1? Well we’ve put together a hand guide below.
FFXIV Patch 7.1, Crossroads, Release Date
If you’re wondering just when the 7.1 patch releases for FFXIV… It’s not been announced yet! We know it’s Mid-November, as answered during the recent September Live Letter. Given patches tend to drop on the Tuesday, we’d expect that means Nov. 12 or Nov. 19, but to keep up to date, keep your eyes peeled on our frequently updated patch schedule!
FFXIV 7.1 Patch Additions
Here’s everything being added to Final Fantasy 14 in patch 7.1:
Main Story Quests 7.1 MSQ
The MSQ is the main attraction of any major numbered patch, and this time we really don’t know what will be next. Dawntrail wrapped its story up quite neatly, so the 7.1 expansion might immediately be pushing us towards the next big story beat.
Dungeon: Yuweyawata Field Station
The Minstrel’s Ballad: Sphene’s Burden
If you’re looking for more difficult content, look no further than this upcoming extreme trial. This will be the dramatic retelling of The Interphos trial, the last MSQ trial of Dawntrail.
The Jade Stoa (Unreal)
We can’t believe we’re already into the Stormblood quests for Unreal trials, as it honestly just feels like a few months back this challenging new difficulty was added. Come patch 7.1 The Jade Stoa and Byakko will be the boss to beat for your Faux Commander trials. We’re looking forward to the chaos of the first few weeks of this.
FFXIV Alliance Raid: Jeuno: The First Walk, Echos of Vana’diel
It’s Alliance Raid time! Just in case you’ve been taking the summer off and don’t have raid gear ready for the next tier of Savage, Alliance is here to give you some great stop-gap gear, and introduce FFXIV players to the world of Vana’diel.
FFXIV: Dawntrail Role Quests & Crafter Quests
It’s been three months and we’ve seen that plenty of players are already maximum level on their classes. As a result, there’s a little bit of a lack of content which Patch 7.1 seems destined to solve. These quests will give you something extra to be doing and hopefully feed into the overall story as it develops.
Chaotic Alliance Raids: The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic)
One of the most surprising updates coming in 7.1 are the Chaotic Alliance Raids, starting with The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic). Designed as more difficult versions of 24-man content, these should be a welcome challenge for more coordinated, larger groups. After basically sleepwalking through the Cloud of Darkness fights these past few years, it’ll be nice that this iconic Final Fantasy boss is a little bit more challenging.
Pelupelu Allied Society Quests (7.1?)
The renamed tribal quests kick off with the mercantile Pelupelu. We’re not sure if these will be crafting, gathering, or combat quests, but with a few more jobs to level up, it’s a welcome addition.
Small Updates in FFXIV 7.1
- PvP adjustments
- 7.0 MSQ added to New Game+
- Halatali Duty Support
- Hall of the Novice Updates
- Doman Mahjong Update
- Player Housing Update
What’s Not Coming in FFXIV 7.1 Patch?
There’s also a few things we know aren’t coming in patch 7.1. Besides the highly sought-after FFXIV Beastmaster job (that’ll be releasing later in the expansion), here’s some things we know about that aren’t coming in 7.1, but instead in slightly later patches:
Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures (7.1x)
Sadly we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the latest edition of the inspector Hildibrand adventures, as this is scheduled for 7.1x, as in later in the year or even early next year.
Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) (7.11)
The next Ultimate is not scheduled to arrive in-game until 7.11. Not too long, to wait, but X.11 patches usually release usually between two and four weeks after the release of an X.1 patch.
Custom Deliveries: Nitowikwe (7.1x)
Last but not least, we’ll of course be getting a new custom delivery recipient in 7.1x. Honestly, we’re bored to tears grinding crafters and gathers scrips elsewhere so a new Custom Delivery NPC is fantastic news.
