Fear The Spotlight: Ghost Hunter Trophy/Achievement Guide

In the first segment of Fear the Spotlight, players take on the role of Vivian, a student of Sunnyside High, who gets transported to a dark and twisted version of her high school because of a Planchette experiment. As she searches for her friend Amy, traversing the grim landscape, she quickly learns that she’s not alone, and shadows seem to lurk behind every corner.

Throughout the journey in Vivian’s Story, you’ll see shadowy figures called Specters staring at her from a distance, often running away when you try to get close to them. While they don’t seem to offer much to the story, catching sight of them all grants players the Ghost Hunter achievement/trophy. This article details the location of all Elusive Specters in the game so that you can collect this achievement easily.

Ghost Hunter Trophy / Achievement Guide For Fear the Spotlight

There are a total of 10 Elusive Specters players can find in Fear the Spotlight. Most of them are pretty hard to miss. Here’s a complete list of each of their locations:

Elusive Specter #1 – Bookshelf Encounter

The first Elusive Specter you’ll see in the game is Amy herself, your friend who’s missing following the planchette. When you get control, pick up the Candle on the table and move on. You’ll soon come across a bookshelf with a few books missing. Interact with the shelf to peer through the opening to see an old table. Back out, look to your left, and you’ll see Amy sprint by quickly.

Elusive Specter #2 – Near The Rose Door

When you arrive at the Rose Door after the School Library, interact with it. Then, look down the right hallway. You’ll see an Elusive Specter peeking out of the corner, staring at you. It will run off as soon as you get close.

Elusive Specter #3 – Girl’s Locker Room

Go to the last bathroom stall in the Washroom in the Girl’s Locker Room near the Vending Machines. Look through the bottom opening in the stall, and you’ll see a pair of shoes rise up.

Elusive Specter #4 – Gymnasium Storage Room

Keep playing through the game, and eventually, you’ll arrive at the Gymnasium, where you’ll have to solve an elaborate Fuse Box puzzle to progress. Eventually, you’ll unlock the Storage room, where you’ll find the Flashlight. The Elusive Specter will be standing right in front of the Flashlight.

This one is impossible to miss.

Elusive Specter #5 – Gymnasium Bathroom

Once you enter the Gymnasium bathroom through the air vent, you’ll hear loud banging from a stall. Interact with the stall and wait for the banging to stop.

Elusive Specter #6 – Exiting The Gymnasium

After using the Power Diverter in the Gymnasium, the lights will go out in the main hall. When you’re exiting, you’ll find three Elusive Specters: two near the center of the room and one near the Storage entrance.

You don’t have to go to each Specter. As long as you hear them, you’re good.

Elusive Specter #7 – Webber Building Bathroom (First Face Piece)

The event Specter comes a bit later. After entering the Webber Building, you’ll arrive at the burning Theater entrance. To get into the theater, you’ll have to navigate the West and East Hallway, solve puzzles, and look for three Face Pieces.

You’ll find the Elusive Specter after unscrewing the Mirror in the Bathroom, where you’ll pick up the first Face Piece. After collecting the Face Piece, look at the crack on the wall. For this one to count, you’ll need to hover your mouse over the crack.

Elusive Specter #8 – Audio Visual Room (After Getting The Strange Key)

You’ll eventually make your way to the Audio Visual room in the East Hallway to pick up the VHS Tape. However, as you head towards the door to exit, the door will be locked. Walk back near the Closet to pick up the Strange Key that’s on the ground. Look up and find the Elusive Specter standing over the Closet.

Elusive Specter #9 – Under The Drama Room (Metal Hatch)

After you get the Strange Key, head back to the Drama Room, unlock the Metal Hatch on the ground, and go inside. Head to the back of the room to get the Blank Floppy Disk. Once you pick it up, head back towards the ladder. The Elusive Specter will be near the first bookshelf.

Elusive Specter #10 – Statue In The Sewer

After placing the first Face Piece on the Statue in the Sewer, back out and turn around. The last Elusive Specters will be inside one of the sewer grates on the wall, looking at you.

To unlock the Ghost Hunter achievement/trophy, you’ll need to
play until the credits roll in Amy’s Story
. If you manage to spot all the Elusive Specters
before beating the Final Boss
, the achievement will unlock after the end credits.

The Elusive Specters in Fear the Spotlight add an extra layer of creepiness to the game. While they don’t affect the story or harm the player in any way, these strange ghosts make the entire experience much more immersive.
