Cut Witcher 3 Scene Discovered Nine Years After Launch
This article has SPOILERS for The Witcher 3
One Witcher 3 fan has recently uncovered a scene that was cut from the final version of the game, and should take place during King Bran’s funeral. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an incredibly large and detailed open-world RPG, and it’s amazing to see fans uncovering some of its secrets so many years after the game’s original release.
Released in 2015, The Witcher 3 has sold over 50 million copies over the years, becoming CD Projekt Red’s most successful project to date. The classic RPG is a sprawling game that can take over 100 hours to complete, and that’s not even counting the DLC. So, it’s no wonder that fans are still uncovering its secrets.

Now, a content creator called xLetalis has discovered and shared a cut scene set in the Skellige Islands during King Bran’s funeral. At one point during the main quest, Geralt faces stuffed animals that come to life. In the normal game, the player can either win or be killed, but this cut scene shows Geralt waking up after being defeated and being told by Yennefer that he was only hallucinating. Geralt initially believes that he’s dead, but Yennefer then explains he was affected by a toxin-coated needle when he entered the room, explaining why the weird dream happened. XLetalis’ video received an official answer from CD Projekt Red’s associate game director Pawel Sasko, explaining that the scene was made in 2014, and he was glad that someone found it. Unfortunately, neither Sasko nor xLetalis’ video explained why the scene was originally cut.
Gamer Discovers Cut The Witcher 3 Scene After 9 Years
This interaction confirms something that Sasko said a few months ago when he claimed that The Witcher 3 still has secrets to be uncovered. In a recent interview with the director, he claimed that the game still has hidden secrets and that he enjoys it when gamers find them after so many years.
According to xLetalis, the scene with the stuffed animal was originally uncovered by modders, who are essentially the last bastion of people uncovering The Witcher 3’s secrets and restoring the content. Earlier this year, one mod brought back a cut boat racing mini-game to The Witcher 3 after spotting remnants of the quest, for example.
Another recent mod restored cut content from The Witcher 3’s ending. In this case, the mod added a cutscene that deals with important characters such as Yennefer. Hopefully, modders will continue fiddling with the game’s files and uncover even more interesting scenes, sharing them with the community.
