Black Ops 6 players furious as campaign early access abandoned

Well there you have it, Activision have confirmed that Black Ops 6 won’t have campaign early access and players are furious that they’ve abandoned the fan-favorite bonus.

The past two Call of Duty games have released the campaign a week early for those who pre-ordered, letting everyone complete the story before jumping into multiplayer and beginning the camo grind.

It wasn’t announced for Black Ops 6 so it was looking more and more unlikely as launch approached but now, Treyarch confirmed to CharlieIntel that the game will be released all at once on October 25.

“This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25th,” they said. “As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.”

Players called out Activision for the decision, saying it’s a huge step backward after how popular early access was.

“BRO WHY?!” asked content creator KRNG Apollo. “They make a FANTASTIC decision one year, and the next walk back on it. I will never truly understand.”

“This is typical of Call of Duty. Make a good decision one year, abandon it the next,” echoed XVItheGreat.

“That’s a shame, the early access campaign was one of the best decisions they’ve made in the past 5 years,” said another player.

Many fans said they probably won’t even play the campaign now as they’ll be too focused on multiplayer and Zombies. “Only way this makes sense is if it’s not done,” said OpTic Hitch. “Only campaigns I’ve ever played have been early release ones and [CoD 4].”

“Gonna have to unfortunately skip this campaign so I can level up my guns and get the MP and Zombies master camo in time for Warzone,” replied HunterTV.

Many believe it was canceled due to the Modern Warfare 3 campaign’s poor reviews. Popular creator Metaphor said they probably wouldn’t have touched MW3’s campaign had it not come early, so it “sucks that they are probably walking back on this because of the backlash from the story of MW3.”

If you’re worried about falling behind on the camo grind and getting all of the guns leveled up for Warzone, the campaign should only take between six and nine hours to beat, and Treyarch’s campaigns are often regarded among the best the franchise has to offer.
