Call of Duty‘s aim assist has always been incredibly strong, and one player is showing just how overpowered the feature was in last year’s Modern Warfare 3 when compared to Black Ops 6. Over on Reddit, user HeckingtonSmythe has done some rigorous testing and put together a short clip that compares the two shooter’s aim assist. While distances from 18 to 6.5 meters show identical results, closer range engagements reveal that Black Ops 6‘s aim assist drops off drastically, meaning players are required to do more work when it comes to aiming. Whether or not this is a good or bad thing ultimately comes down to personal preference.
The response to the user’s results has been mostly positive, with one user saying, “Nerfing point blank aim assist like that is a really good change, I can’t find any good justification as to why it should track this much up close.” Others speculate that close-range aim assist was nerfed to compensate for Black Ops 6‘s new omnidirectional movement system, as a heavier aim assist feature would give players attempting to make the most of omnimovement no chance at all.
Aim assist isn’t the only divisive change made in the latest Call of Duty title either, as some players have recently started to call for the removal of Black Ops 6‘s Recon perk.
