15 Best Rogue Weapons In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Rogues are probably the most balanced class in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Able to make better use of the power wheel than Warriors yet less reliant on it than Mages, they offer the best way to experience every facet of The Veilguard’s more action-heavy combat. And, while doing that, they have an excellent choice of weapons.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Best Early Skills For A Rogue
Rogues cut enemies apart quickly and dominate with a bow – but what Skills are worth investing in to become a Duelist, Saboteur, or Veil Ranger?
Rogues dual-wield swords in battle, and also have a bow at their disposal, so we’re going to be looking at the best five main-hand weapons, the best five off-hand weapons, and the best five bows. Since Rogues make good use of their Abilities, the best weapons aren’t always the hardest hitters. These weapons bring the best out of you in the field.
Best Main-Hand Weapons For A Rogue
While the Rogue has two swords their hip, you can’t mix and match these. Some swords are designated Main Hand, and others Off-Hand. This does make equipping them a little easier, but also makes the choice of which one to use, and which to upgrade, a little tougher.
Some of the weapons here are more general, especially the two Unique ones, so it will depend on your playstyle how effective they are. Others are specific to certain damage types, making them particularly suited to certain builds, or facing down key enemies.
Enchanted Longblade
The Enchanted Longblade has the best Stagger value of all Rogue weapons, and when fully upgraded, is perfect for the Necrotic Weapons Skill that both Saboteurs and Duelists will have in their arsenal
Mercenary’s Blade
This saber can get you out of trouble, granting a massive 300 health for a Perfect Defense – a move you’ll likely perfect as a swashbuckling Rogue. With high damage as a passive healing boost, this sword keeps you in the fight.
Weisshaupt’s Wail
A solid blade, this broadsword is most effective for fas fighters who deal in repeated Light attacks in a flury of blades. It’s a team player’s sword, increasing cooldowns and offering Rally Party.
Audacity
This Unique broadsword is the hardest hitting weapon a Rook can have, but it’s not without cost. It’s 365 damage rises to 547, but it eats arrows for breakfast and makes ranged combat very difficult.
Optimist’s Span
This Unique broadsword is only for showoffs. Its 343 damage rises to 686, meanig this is actually the hardest hitting Rogue weapon… but only if you jump up. Most of the time you’ll be attacking on the ground, where it drops to 240. If you’re flashy enough for airborne combat, go for it, but you need to make this blade work for you.
Best Off-Hand Weapons For A Rogue
Much like the Main Hand Weapons, your Off-Hand weapons are a specific group. Blending the powers of both can be effective, as can running with two different styles of blade to help you in any situation. Again, there are two Unique blades chosen here, for players looking for a little extra.
These weapons don’t quite hit as hard as Main Hand Weapons, but they can still be devastatingly effective in combat if used well.
Dark Shard
This is the best Stagger Off-Hand weapon, so is excellent when combined with the Mercenary’s Blade. It excels at Heavy attacks for the most aggressive Rogues, and when fully upgraded can melt Armor and Barrier in an instant.
Cold Steel
Cold Steel brings impressive damage and offers Stagger, making it well rounded. This damage is in the form of Cold, and if you have Necrotic boosts (as Duelists and Saboteurs likely will), this damage rises further. With Chilled and Frozen capabilties, it brings a frosty storm to your enemies.
Duelist’s Blade
Perfect for (you guessed it) a Duelist Rogue, the Duelist’s Blade brings high damage and a Nectrotic sting into battle. Thanks to the Riposte trait, this rises even further for a more advanced Duelist.
Meredith’s Legacy
This Unique rapier is risky business. Its damage output is good, its Stagger okay, but its the special properties that make this blade effective. Every time you hit and enemy, you steal their health, and any other leeching powers get a boost. The trade off is you’re on your own, kid. Companions and Potions no longer work on you with this blade in action.
Arainai’s Talon
If you’re going for pure damage, this Unique longsword is where it’s at. Heavy Nectrotic damage gets a further boost from this blade, and Nectrotic Weapons are constantly active (as are other boons that only work during Necrotic Weapons), so for a specialised death bringer build (likely a Duelist), it’s worth the Stagger trade off.
Best Two Handed-Weapons/Bows For A Rogue
As well as slicing enemies to ribbons, Rogues have poise with a bow, too. While The Veilguard’s action combat means rushing into the heat of battle is usually more effective, a good bow can turn the tide in combat still. It’s necessary to strip away Barrier and means enemies from afar can be dealt with quickly.
If you’re a Veil Ranger Rogue, then bows will be your forte, and you’ll want to be armed with the best Thedas can offer. For a Rogue, that’s these five right here.
Trueflight Bow
Nothing comes close to the Trueflight Bow for Stagger, and it blasts through Armor in an instant, though it does come at a cost of being weaker against Barrier… unless it’s fully upgraded. In that case, it ignores any Defense an enemy has and all of your Penetratio boosts are added to the damage. It is deadly in combat.
Azure Bow
If you treat Thedas like the Wild West, the Azure Bow is for you. Made for shooting from the hip, it offers better damage and more arrows for those who don’t aim. For obvious reasons, it pairs poorly with the wastful Audacity.
Reinforced Longbow
Don’t be put off by the generic name – this is the best bow for more contemplative archers. Giving better damage when you land a headshot, that boost keeps rising and ignores an enemy’s Defense, and if you take your time, the boost grows again.
Glory Hunter’s Bow
A similar bow to the Reinforced Longbow, the Glory Hunter’s Bow is less about constantly stacking damage than it is about vantage points. If you can get some distance between you and your opponent, you can pick them off with ease. It’s also very handy for Harding in particular, as fully upgrading this will improve her bow by proxy.
Grip And Rip
Looking at the stats, this is a poor bow for both damage and Stagger. However, it gives you a huge arrow boost (which itself improves some Rogue Skills), and fires three at once for massive coverage. It’s not suited to an archer, but like the Azure Bow is perfect for a melee build looking to make use of the bow.
