Enhanced Farming

Based on a mod called Better Farming, Enhanced Farming adds a beautiful variety of fruiting trees, including lemon, cherry, and banana trees, and a wide selection of crops, like corn, garlic, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, mint, and more. There are even a few unexpected, quality-of-life features hidden in this mod.

Of course, many of these crops can be prepared into unique foods, but you also get access to a rake that can cut down large areas of grass for seeds, a scarecrow that can keep mobs from stepping on your farmland, and interesting piston interactions with olives.

Simple Farming

Sometimes, you don’t need much to enhance an experience, and if you’re a fan of that line of thinking, Simple Farming is a great way to create a vanilla plus environment; everything added feels like it doesn’t stray far away from the base game.

Once installed, you’ll find wild berry bushes scattered across forests and other biomes that you can cultivate, have the option to brew your own alcohol, grab an on-the-go snack from wild fruit trees, grow grapes on hanging vines, and discover new crops.

No Farmland Trample

While it’s nice that you can’t trample crops simply by walking on them anymore, they can still be ruined if your lovable but clumsy friend, your farm animals, or incredibly rude, nighttime mobs decide to jump on your beloved crops.

With the No Farmland Trample mod, crops will only be able to be broken by tools, your hands, or the minor flood you accidentally created by placing a bucket of water in the wrong spot. It might be simple, but you can’t go wrong with quality-of-life features.

Smarter Farmers

The Smarter Farmers mod is a relatively simple, but effective mod that takes villager AI up a notch, allowing them to avoid making silly mistakes that hurt them, augment their productivity, and plant the crops you’d like them to, even if those crops come from other mods.

Some of the most notable changes to behavior include automatic replanting of vanilla and modded crops, avoiding trampling farmland, complete immunity to sweet berry bush damage, and smart planting routines that automatically segregate crops by their type for better organization and easier harvesting.

Croptopia

The Croptopia mod adds over 50 new crops to grow, over 20 trees to plant, and over 250 unique foods to make, drink, and eat. While it’d be impractical to list out every food, crop, and tree to offer, there are some things you should know before jumping in:

• Running around breaking a bunch of grass like a living lawnmower won’t work; you need to find and break specific crops you find in the wild.
• Once you find a modded crop, right-click on it to collect it.
• To make modded tree saplings, take two fruits you’ve gathered from a tree and combine them with a normal sapling.

Every good farmer needs a green thumb first, and a reliable tool belt second. If you downloaded too many farming-related mods and have a bunch of seeds and crops taking up your inventory, your hotbar space suddenly becomes a hot commodity.

Thankfully, with the Tool Belt mod, you’ll be able to make an item that lets you store anywhere from two to nine tools total in one place, and access all of them with a handy, circular GUI with icons of each tool you’ve stored.

Botany Pots

If you’ve gotten tired of farming the traditional way, or you feel like moving your farm either indoors, or scaling it for verticality, the Botany Pots mod can help with that, effectively allowing you to grow whatever crop you’d like in a clay pot.

Also, for those of you that love automation, harvesting a crop from a botany pot will automatically replant seeds, but even better, upgraded botany pots will harvest themselves, and are able to output harvested crops into storage blocks with hoppers.

Farming For Blockheads

If you’re tired of getting your hands dirty, breaking grass blocks, or harvesting mod-specific crops in the wild just to get a few seeds or less, the Farming for Blockheads mod might be the solution to your problems. Ultimately, this mod:

• Adds a Market block to the game, which lets you buy seeds, saplings, bone meal, and other staple items.
• Lets you purchase certain farming utilities, like fertilizer, feeding troughs, and chicken nests.
• Offers item filtering options if you’re having a tough time finding the items you need.

Serene Seasons

There are a lot of nice features that farming simulation games implement for a relaxed, cozy, and enthralling experience. One of those features, is simply a beautiful environment you can appreciate while planting, watering, and harvesting crops.

With the Serene Seasons mod, grass, foliage, trees, and other aspects of the surrounding environment will change over time, depending on the season you’re in. Do be careful, though; eventually, snow will fall in areas that it originally didn’t, which can affect your crop’s growth speeds.

The Mystical Agriculture mod is for those of you that want to fully commit to the farming lifestyle, and couldn’t care less about actively gathering your own resources, like coal or iron from deep underground, or hunting mobs for their drops, like gunpowder.

With over 130 unique crops to plant, you’ll be able to grow practically every important resource in the base game, like wood, coal, glowstone, redstone, animal drops, like leather and raw meat, and so much more. Oh, and don’t forget about the modded and unique resources as well.

Farmer’s Delight

The Farmer’s Delight mod is a bit more low-key when it comes to mods in general, but that might be just what you’re looking for if you want a more gentle, vanilla-like expansion to the game’s farming and food systems.

The most notable additions include a simple cooking system that outputs an expansive array of prepared dishes, a way to improve the overall health of the soil you’re growing crops in, new decorations and blocks, and a brand-new tool that helps you scavenge for resources.

Fancy Crops

Fancy Crops is exactly what it sounds like; you’re crops will now be fancy! This mod tweaks the crop textures to make them look a bit more full. This is a great mod to get if you want to subtly tweak the way your crops look without completely overhauling the farming system.

In addition to reworking vanilla Minecraft crops, this mod will retexture seeds and hay bales. On top of that, you can use this mod alongside Farmer’s Delight, which was mentioned previously.

Pam’s HarvestCraft 2

Pam’s HarvestCraft 2 is a unique mod that allows you to create a plethora of new food items. The download page for the mod boasts an impressive count of 180+ new foods! This includes new flavors for existing items, as well as new foods like donuts and burgers.

Along with new food types, this mod also introduces new tools to do the cooking. For example, you can make your own mixing bowls, sauce pans, and grinders to cook your way through the food added into the game with this mod.

Tropicraft

Last but not least, we have the Tropicraft mod. With this mod, you can experience farming in a more tropical climate. The mod itself adds a tropical area to the game that goes beyond farming, but in it, you can farm up pineapples and coconuts.
