Greetings, commanders! We’re so excited that Game Pass members will soon be joining us in the Korpulu Sector. While the entirety of the original StarCraft and StarCraft II’s multiplayer components are free-to-play, we’re delighted to say that StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection will be available to anyone with a PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscription from November 5.
But if you really want to hear and feel what being a part of the StarCraft community can feel like, check out this video, where Sean “Day9” Plott describes not only how StarCraft changed his life, but how important it is to be proud about the things you love. Over 4 million views can’t be wrong!
We hope to see you on November 5 when StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection land on Game Pass. Khas il’adare!

Oh sick, perfect way to try and get the youngling more into the game!
Maybe. Xbox has actually closed gaming studios that went on gamepass because their sales were too low (since they were on game pass).
This should not affect Starcraft as it’s sales are probably already low, but xbox pushing more stuff on game pass is likely due to too low new subscribers to game pass after the activision-blizzard acquisition so this might actually be a very bad sign of things to come to all blizzard games (didnt microsoft fire a lot of people twice already?).

Well yeah but in this very specific use case he is interested in SC2 and already has the requisite Game Pass sub, so it’s quite a good onboarding route

Gotta have something positive coming out of that merger eh?
Bobby Kotick was terrible and was flying ATVI into the ground which is why ATVI was down to only 12,000 employees.
Everything is much better now because Kotick and the sycophant management team around him are gone. Hiring is way up. Diablo4 is way better. Everything is amazing and only getting better. Destiny and Bungie have improved so much since leaving ATVI.
Seriously though, MS should stick to Office, Windows, SQL Server, window dressing around compilers, data analytics and data security.
MS is good with video games, but the problem is that Kelly and Kotick were great. So we are going to see a decline in Activision.
This was plain to see years ago. I do not see anyone in Activision upper management with the genius required to make Activision great again.
Activision was someone’s baby. Now it is a line item on an Excel Spreadsheet of revenue #s.

I think this is a major reason why fans don’t want to see a new Starcraft or a new Warcraft. They like the idea but they’re fearful of the execution because trends within the company have established a certain precedent.
It’s great that they put BW/SC2 on Game Pass. I wonder if War3 will follow.

I bought 1 year of Game Pass Core. Then I bought 1 month of Game Pass Ultimate. I ended up with 13 months of Ultimate for ~$75 CDN. So Game Pass Ultimate for $4.50 USD/Month. I went with Canadian pricing due to favourable exchange rates.
The Game Pass Ultimate loop hole doesn’t get you down to the stupid low prices of 5 years ago. However, using this easy exploit method nets you something substantially lower than MS’s advertised price.

The inherent problem with businessmen like Kotick is that they are strategically good at growing a business, but creatively draining. They will take over a company, take about a year to analyze the most successful and effective products in the current inventory, and double down on those while shuttering products that are only marginally successful. This sounds great on paper,
When Kotick and Kelly took over Mediagenic it had zero video game employees and every video game brand including Pitfall! and Zork were dead. Kotick and Kelly resurrected the Activision brand from the dead. Interestingly, the Zork franchise was resurrected by Activision when they assigned Tim Morten to work on Return To Zork. It is a damn good game. Tim Morten did a great job. Activision did a great job hiring talent… including Morten. Morten might be struggling in his current position, however, over the course of 30 years he has done some really good work. Activision/Kotick/Kelly hired him when he had zero experience.
