The concept of grading is used in almost everyday life and is used to assess or categorize the level or performance of something. From designations at work to results in school, an individual is graded based on how well they perform or the level of experience they possess.

Similarly, in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, sorcerers are graded based on their level of skill and experience. However, it is important to note that this grading system primarily applies to students of the Tokyo Jujutsu High school and may not fully encompass the strength and skills of sorcerers outside the school. Some sorcerers may be powerful, but may not have a proper grade allocated to them.

A Closer Look At Jujutsu Kaisen’s Grading System

Jujutsu sorcerers are not the only ones who are graded. Cursed spirits, cursed tools and objects are also graded based on the level of power they possess. Jujutsu sorcerers are graded from Grade 4 to Grade 1 with semi-grades such as Semi-Grade 2 and Semi-Grade 1 and beyond, which includes Special Grade 1 sorcerers and finally, Special Grade sorcerers. Grade 4 is the lowest grade and is, most of the time, first-year students who are still in their early stages of training. Maki Zenin is Grade 4 sorcerer. Although it is clear that she can advance into the next grade, the Zenin Family stops her from being promoted.

Grade 3 sorcerers are considered intermediate-level sorcerers as they gain more experience. Nobara Kugisaki was a grade 3 sorcerer along with Mai Zenin. Semi-Grade 2 is a rank that very little is known about, but Panada is categorized into this category. Grade 2 sorcerers have a higher level of proficiency and are able to handle stronger curses; sorcerers who are in a grade 2 level category are allowed to take on solo missions.

What the Higher Grades Mean

Semi -Grade 1 are sorcerers who have completed their missions and are pending recommendation for the Grade 1 category. Grade 1 is the highest ranking sorcerer grade and these are among the most powerful and experienced sorcerers in the field of jujutsu. They are the prime example of a Jujutsu Sorcerer and are able to take on dangerous missions. A few sorcerers who fit into this category are Kento Nanami, Aoi Todo and Mei Mei. Special Grade 1 sorcerers are sorcerers who operate outside the school and are as powerful as a Grade 1 sorcerer. Members of the Zenin clan are known to belong to this category.

Last but not the least are special grade sorcerers, who carry powers which can lead to destruction and chaos like never before. Their powers are known to be immeasurable, making them unique sorcerers. The number of special grade sorcerers is extremely low and records only four of them who are currently active. This includes Yuta Okkotsu because of his immense curse energy as well as his ability to manifest Rika, a special grade vengeful cursed spirit. Yuki Tsukumo also makes the list because of her reputation for being an extremely powerful sorcerer along with her domain and innate techniques. Suguru Geto is also a special grade sorcerer as he is able to manipulate thousands of curses at the same time, as well as use cursed spirit manipulation. He is also able to absorb another sorcerer’s technique if he kills the user of the technique first. Finally, Satoru Gojo obviously makes the list as he is known to be the strongest sorcerer in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. His abilities, such as Limitless, Blue, Red, Purple, along with his domain expansion techniques such as Unlimited Void and Six Eyes make him a powerful force to be reckoned with.
